This is an excerpt from The Athletic about Lamar Thomas' recruitment of Lamar Jackson. He claims Petrino wanted LJ to de-commit. Unbelievable, if true.

The problem with Lamar Jackson as a commitment was that he had become such a hot prospect as signing day approached that he was a great risk to de-commit and sign with Florida. High risk, high reward....

And had he done that, we would have had a giant hole in our recruiting class where the QB spot should have been, because it would have been way too late to get a commitment from another top prospect.

That statement from Lamar Thomas sounds bad only in hindsight, because Jackson (a) turned out to be a special player and (b) did not decide to flip to Florida on signing day.

I’m not buying it either. Reggie was already on the roster and you add depth with ‘similar’ style QBs.
This is Thomas trying to ride the coat tails for Lamar’s success. LT is no longer relevant in football And trying to get anyone to talk about him.
