Petrino Contract Extension

At the end of the 2015-16 season Petrino was given a 7 year extension. Given all his baggage and just ok results up to that point, why was there a need to extend the contract? UofL was essentially only bidding against themselves.

Guess that's a question for the former athletic director. I doubt he'll be willing to answer though. Now he doesn't even have to listen to the question.

Wasn't the argument that it would help him recruit? We are seeing the result of all that great recruiting now.
