Perry's D

That’s why I do want to see Perry, Sam, and DJ take more of the reigns. It’s not that I just look at potential and only like athletic players, but it kinda showed last night what happens when our guards play so hard on defense that it effects their offense.

Ryan playing great D is awesome, same with Fresh, but they need to be able to bring it on BOTH ends for us to win in March. The 3 I mentioned just have a bit more speed and their length and speed make it where they don’t have to work as hard to make stops like Ryan.

I go back to the 2013 team, because why else! Peyton and Russ could just BRING IT on both ends of the floor. Well Gourgi and Chane too. Those guys just brought it on both ends. Then that’s when you can add in a Luke Hancock to provide instant offense for 20 minutes. Trezl to bring energy at the rim. Wayne could settle in and do his thing.

Jordan, Enoch, and Sutton all 3 bring it on both ends, but we need a guard or 2 to step up next. Then that’s when guys like Ryan and Fresh can be the role players we need.

I’m not looking at it like “oh man we suck now omg”! We are great right now, but I’m just evaluating on where we need to be for March. That’s how Rick coached every year and we always peaked at the right time.

We have the roster and pieces to be a champion, we currently are great. I’m excited to see how we grow over the next 2-3 months!

Go Cards!

I’m ready to see how this group responds Fri night against Pitt. Especially after all the hoopla of Tues and the huge win.

We shall see. I hope a Pitt player opens his mouth and mentions smoke.

Don’t forget, we owe them from last year!

It’s appropriate to highlight and call attention to Perry’s defensive pressure as it set the tone early. The team’s overall defense was impressive... hard hedges, help, close outs and recovery was on point.

Looking forward to seeing how the team responds against Pitt.

It will also be interesting see how Michigan progresses over the next few weeks/rest of the season as well.
