Was thinking the same thing. He has a whole lot of "ME" ball in him. That has to change for him to get better.

Coach Mack sent a "message" to Perry by announcing he's going to recruit another guard for next season.

Its up to Perry to stave off possibly getting recruited over or ending up transferring.

Perry's whole attitude is lacking. He sulks every time he's called for a foul, his body language is bad, and his game, at this poInt is not helping the team. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him transfer. Maybe it would help to have Russ Smith come in and share his secret to turning it around.

Both Maysville & Stamping Ground Community College called and they have an immediate slot for him. All kidding aside, not sure what dude's deal is. It seems he needs to slow it down to me as he can often be out of control, and when he gets hung up he ends up putting up a mind-boggling shot attempt. With his body language it's almost like his mind is telling him he is actually Kyrie Irving , and his body and skills are saying" The hell you are ". It would be nice to be able to get some reasonably consistent play out of him as it would go a long way.

A healthy McMahon will limit Perry’s involvement. I am, and have been, disappointed in Perry’s play this season and at the end of last year. The shame of this is that he has the ability to play better but it seems that he is on a mission for himself rather than his team/teammates. I’m all in favor of CCM recruiting another guard for next season. Perhaps another “grad transfer” situation will present itsself.

GO CARDS - BEAT EVERYBODY!!! God Bless America!!!

The one thing I have learned over the years is kids either can play at this level or they can't. Many people look at the players physical ability, but it is more about their mental understanding of the game that separates players. Perry is a better athlete than Cunningham by a big margin, but Cunningham is 10 times a better player. Why, he understands how to play the game. How many times does Perry get to the rim? Hardly ever because he doesn't set up his defender or process when it is time to attack. King is the exact same player neither Perry or King process the the game fast enough. At this point I don't think that is changing.

Go back to Russ Smith the kid just knew how to score and you could immediately tell even early he could play at this level. The only question was could he learn the game well enough to be great. VJ and Perry aren't going to be players you count on at this level, they can give you good minutes, but they aren't starters. Perry has at least shown glimpse he gets it but lately he has been a train wreck.

The biggest concern next year is PG. Johnson maybe be a good option just don't know.

Except as previously noted, Perry is getting clock at the 1. McMahon’s handle and passing are as good if not better than Perry’s - gotta think that Mack doesn’t believe Ryan has the ability to guard that spot. I’d say Perry transferring is better than 50-50.

The thing is though...he played at this level last season. He was solid as a sub off the bench. He has proven,to me anyway, that he's capable.

Gotta agree with Cycle, point guard is the glaring need for next year being a top 10-15 team.

Either could have a game or two here and there, but its obvious they are pure role players. Shame.....

Too many of these young men have set their sights on Pro Basketball and this pressure is making many them make decisions while playing that have a negative effect on them making positive progress. It is sad to watch. It is a downward spiral that is difficult to stop.

Pitino hot trashed for recruiting Russ Smith when we signed him. Smith got trashed during the KDF game for being terrible and most fans hated him his entire freshman season and wanted his scholarship given to Elisha Justice. Its wasnt till midway through his career that his light truly came on. Perry is still a soph and has a bit the same problem that Russ had. His aggression needs to be harnessed.

Russ turned the corner in his sophomore year. He was second in scoring despite being sixth in mins played. For the season he averaged 11.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 2.2 steals a game.

Perry is no Russ Smith - skill set or BB IQ. Plus, he’s moving in the opposite direction - he was better last year.

Didn't say he was Russ Smith but Smith was a lighting rod his soph. season. He put up points but also took a bunch of ill-advised shots and was up and down that year. We badly needed scoring that season though so Pitino lived with it. By the time his Jr. season came around Russ was way more under control.

Hadn't heard this. When did CCM say that?

If he and VJ get their shit together, watch out. Both of those dudes play with zero confidence.
In my opinion it’s not fair to lump the two together. Yeah, I get that we’re not seeing the results we think we should but Perry’s issues aren’t because he’s not trying. In fact I think he’s trying to hard and needs to slow the game down. VJ on the other hand is thinking too much and seems to be about 5-8 seconds behind the play.

Most of the time he gets in trouble when he over penetrates. He has a really good jump shot. When he is on the Court with Cunningham I would like to see morph into McMahon and hang around the 3 point line. And when he gets a good look shoot. Unfortunately what he typically does is try to penetrate and ends up either turning the ball over or missing a contested shot around the rim.

You want us to take Perry's scholarship and give it to a juco?

Perry just seems to be uncomfortable with the ball, dribbling and making those decisions about whether he's shooting or passing. Although he probably is the best passer on the team,he just hasn't fully accepted the role of pg. That's where CM needs him though, backing up CC. It may not work. He really sees things when he's thinking pass.

The problem is,he thinks he's a shooter. Hell, they all do,lol. I agree that he is a decent shooter, but it's been a bit of a double edged sword. I think he gets to where he helps the team on a more consistent basis. It's not even February yet.

If Perry were to leave or if any scholarship opens up this is the kid I would like to see us go after. He had an offer from us at one point. As well as offers from Florida,Missouri,Iowa St,Memphis,& Tennessee. He’s a pass first PG.
