Perry plays 16 minutes but he is the scapegoat

As you point multiple factors in this loss and Texas Tech being the main factor. They hit shots when they needed. They defended. Louisville didn’t handle their daggers very well.

College basketball is a guards game. There is no path a high seed without excellent guard. They control the game. Let’s just say they have a ways to go.

Every player had issues during this game. Meshing just couldn't happen for whatever reason. But I truly believed preseason that things were finally going to come together for Perry this year. That could still happen for this young man. I'll keep looking forward to that day(s).

I've always believed you should never have to motivate 18-22 year old athletes to play hard. How could anyone be on a d-1 team ranked #1 and playing in Madison Square Gardens and need to be motivated

Hey, I hope you’re correct but I’ll beg to differ in a big way. Perry is not a point guard and never has been. He plays “ME ball” and searches out ill advised contested shots, he turns it over at a freshman type rate. The kid’s a junior - he is what he is. You talk about him “only” playing 16 minutes, but 6 turnovers in that time. And, where’s the leadership? All I saw him doing was barking at Enoch & Nwora. Not a guy that’s leading us anywhere pulling that crap.

Johnson is the answer at the one, but it’s gonna cost us some games to play him big minutes. There’s a reason the rumors were flying that he might start prior to his injury, he was the obvious best option.

Go play on your own board hayseed. No one here needs your input. Go split a pizza with Kenny Payne.

While it is true nobody played well, it can be argued the other guys competed at a higher level, even though they missed shots and basically got pushed around.

Perry has looked good at times this year but that was a giant step back last night. And it's concerning he has that kind of brutal game in his arsenal at this juncture of his career. Mack had to get him out of there he was just brutal.

Not sure where Mack goes from here.

I've been skeptical of Perry all season. He's in his 3rd year and his handles are really not very good. He doesn't have good court vision and doesn't know how to set up the pass into the post. Good quick guards are going to kill us this year. Plus pointing fingers at other players just shows his temperament and maturity are lacking. Kimble has displayed little talent thus far but it looks like when Darius in melting down he's going to be playing a lot of minutes. Johnson needs to play a lot against EKU.

I just scratch my head and wonder why Kimble has played as much as he has during the first ten games. I got nothin'. Makes even less sense to play David and Williamson as little as they have so far because we won't sniff a long tournament run without either of those guys playing 15-20 minutes a night. More freshman, less Fresh. I also can't fault Perry as much because he's clearly not a 1, never has been, but is put in that role time and time again and it's not his fault his success hasn't been there. It's coaching at this point.

This loss was on Perry. It was on him and ALL the players who played AND it was on coach Mack and his assistant coaches too. A total TEAM effort went into this loss. Everyone has to take a bite out of this shit sandwich and own it.

Perry was the scapegoat last night because well in 15 minutes he committed 6 turnovers, 4 fouls and 0 assists.
And almost every shot he took was a bad one. But most of the shots we took were bad ones. We had no patience at all in the half court. And that played right into TT's hands. The problem is Perry is not a PG. I believe he could be a pretty damn good 2GD. But that's not his role on this team.

The ball often dies in Perry’s hands. I honestly think sometimes he holds it late in the shot clock so he can justify going one-on-one and getting to jack up one of his ill-advised contested shots. Watching him mouth off to Nwora & Enoch on the court made me want to puke. I think the guy has this huge opinion of his own game. Where he got that idea I’ll never know!

Point guard needs to be the smartest player in the game and only pick up dribble to pass. Perry suffers from a significant lack of BB IQ from what I have seen of his game. He has tendency dribble into trouble then have no where to go and compound it by picking his dribble or lose control of the ball. Mack should give Williamson a chance at playing the point. Huge advantage to a tall point guard.

According to your definition that fits McMahon. He’s a 5th year senior who’s like a coach on the court much like Hancock. However, he’s just not blessed with the physical attributes, which is not fair. Nearly everyone said he was not a D1 caliber player.
