Alex Honnold is a freak of nature, and bat crap crazy.
Two days ago, he free climbed "El Capitan" in Yosemite. A 3000 foot climb, up a sheer face of rock, with NO ROPES OR SAFETY HARNESSES .... He did this with just his hands, climbing shoes, and a chalk bag, to keep his hands dry.

And here is a video piece, done by 60 Minutes a few years ago, that shows a 1600 foot free-solo climb. Sitting on my couch watching this video, my fear of heights kicks in ... I can only imagine what it must feel like being right there.
