Watching the FSU bowl game and Deion was interviewed on the sidelines. He said he was “back” several times and that he is behind taggart 100%. He also hinted that if he was asked to be a part of the new staff he would gladly sign on. He and Jimbo must have not seen eye to eye for him to stay away from the program for that long. If Deion Sanders starts coaching DBs at FSU between Taggart and Sanders they would lock down any Florida recruit they want. Both seem to be big name guys guys want to play for right now.

Sanders was a dynamic talent and was successful because of his incredible physical gifts. I don’t think he was particularly sound fundamentally and his unorthodox approach to the game worked for him but if he teaches that to players they could have problems. This is one of the reasons great players don’t necessarily make the best coaches. Those that can do, can’t teach.

As a Cardinal fan, here’s hoping he’s in charge of teaching tackling technique at FSU - lol.

He'd bring an energy and a swagger that would be fun to watch. But, he's got a pretty cush life. Coaches put in the hours. Then there's recruiting. Prime is perhaps not cut like that.

I am generally skeptical of a former star player landing a fairly high profile coaching gig without paying his dues in the coaching grind. As stated above, the hours coaches put in are insane. And at the end of day, coaching is teaching. Some aren’t cut out for that.

For those who were blessed with talent, I think it is hard to teach someone who’s not, at least understanding that even working hard may not overcome raw abilities.

I’d say he has decent experience because I believe he runs camps and has been an assistant in the underarmor games if I’m not mistaken. He would primarily be there for recruiting and coaching technique for DBs.

His camps are all star showcases and I’ve never seen actual coaching at these all star games.

Again...I hope he teaches them how to “tackle”...lol...Great Player But Charles Woodson all around was a better Cornerback/Defensive Back...

Ok. The thread wasn’t really a debate about Woodson vs Sanders, but I feel like that’s an opinion. Both are HOF DBs and Deion was an all-time great returner. And for as light as you are treating the position of coaching DBs and their coverage and tackling you do realize that has been one of the biggest struggles of our defense since Bobby took over. We are U of L fans. We should be familiar with shitty tackling by DBs. I watched AJ Dillon make our “hard hitting” safety look like a 3 year old child.

Deion could return for sure - best in the business for a long time but, his next tackle will be his first. As for AJ Dillon - he ran over a shit ton of good players and will run over a shit ton more in his career.

Good points. I will still say though that our DBs are not good tacklers or particularly good in coverage outside of Jaire. I mean wake forest hung 6 tds on us.

Definitely not going to argue that we could have tackled better across the board. I will say that some of that was due to playing SS sized guys at OLB and, poor scheme by sirmon in the first 2/3 of the season. Here’s hoping we get bigger at LB and better at DB in 2018.
