They returned to natural grass, and they just expanded and upgraded WIFI access for fans during games. I can't recall exactly, but I think when Louisville switched to field turf, it was partly due to drainage issues when the surface was all grass. If that remains the case, then field turf it is, but, given there's a developing link to those little black pellets and cancer, perhaps a reevaluation of player safety is needed. I'd be all for a return to natural grass, if it could be done. Additionally, it's quite archaic sitting in a "state of the art" facility and to be unable to send and receive texts, or check for scores, weather updates, etc. on my phone. There's a part of me that thinks Tyra has mentioned this at some point, but I'm not sure.

Agree wholeheartedly on both counts ... though I’ll readily admit to being less concerned about the playing surface.

The scientists who performed the Rutgers study that suggested a cancer link due to carcinogens in the rubber infill used in field turf have admitted that their positive results for cancer causing chemicals might be due to the process they used to extract the chemicals from the rubber. It’s why that study was never actually published. The EPA is investigating, but no definitive results have been published yet.

Meanwhile ... there’s plenty of evidence that I get very annoyed at not being able to use my smart phone to get up-to-the-minute game stats!

I even miss keeping up with scores from other games on the streamer screens around the stadium.

If I’m in my seats, the WiFi is terrible, if I walk up 30 rows to the “party deck” it’s fine. I don’t like to be on the party deck, tho.

The chemicals in the pellets also can go to the brain. Toxic chemicals and the brain do not mix well. Some players immune system can rid itself of chemicals, others can’t. Could some brain injuries later in football players life be a result of these chemicals? I cringe when I see a cloud of chemicals go into the air esp on TV.

Well there are a bunch of these type artificial playing surfaces around all of college sports AND professional sports also. Even “southern” schools are using it also such as Vandy and uahkay. Uahkay is even using it as UofL is for both football and baseball. I think Vandy is just baseball. Another problem for schools like UofL is that HS football will destroy a natural grass field. Both St.X and Trinity use the same surface as does UofL.
