Louisville forward Jordan Nwora was invited to the NBA Draft Combine, the university announced in a release Saturday.

Nwora, a sophomore and Louisville's leading scorer and rebounder, entered his name in the 2019 NBA Draft pool earlier this month. He will take part in the combine May 14-19 in Chicago, a chance to be evaluated by multiple NBA teams.

Nwora is leaving the door open for a return to college. He and other underclassmen who declared for the draft have until May 29 to inform schools whether or not they will remain in the draft.

I am always surprised when some of these players leave early and make it. I have been wrong before but Nwora has so much work to do to be a better player I can't see him making an NBA team. I can see him going to the developmental league and getting better but what does that do to his income.

Listening and reading what some of the scouts say about him all you can do is just wonder what the hell is wrong with them! None of them say he should definelty go back all they say is he has NBA skill sets and range they love his shooting.

Mack pretty much stuck his neck out last week predicting Nwora will return. He's either gonna prevail against the odds or look a little out-of-touch with his players and perhaps the mentality of the modern college basketball player...

Perhaps Coach Mack is being guilty of wishful thinking OR he knows that Nwora isn’t anywhere near being ready for the next level. Maybe he knows that this young man should come back and work on his short comings to lift his status for next year. I prefer to give CCM the benefit of the doubt here rather than being cynical about whether he is “out-of-touch” with the mentality of the modern college basketball player.

Will be interesting.

I remember hearing Pitino say he planned on building a team around Samardo after his Soph year. A day or two later Samardo announced he was turning pro from Jamaica. Rick still ended up doing alright post Samardo disconnect!

I think if Mack was asked the question again after Jordan being invited to the combine which was after his comment he state something different. I don't think Mack expected Jordan to be invited nobody really did from what i'm hearing.

Yep. And those things didn't make Pitino look any good.

Unless a coach knows what he's talking about on a player's pro potential and his interest level, the coach is better off waiting quietly along with the rest of us...

How do you know the player didnt tell a coach he's staying only to change his mind after the conversation ?

Im sure during exit interviews this question is asked of all the players.

One mistake is believing what someone says. If that's the explanation, I'm disappointed in Mack..

Mack said Jordan has a lot to work on and I think it is natural for a coach to see the weaknesses. Mitchell wasn't ready either according to Pitinio. The way the NBA is trending shooters are a priority. His weaknesses might not matter because Nwora is a gifted shooter. I think he is a better athlete than he is given credit for but his energy/effort is inconsistent. I think his defense and effort are easily fixed either in college or NBA. Nwora it really should be about his draft position 1st round early 2nd go and don't look back. Mid to late 2nd round come back become a lottery pick. At the end of the day it is all about $$$$.

Nwora is never going to be a lottery pick. He could be 20-30, but not top 15. Too many good players coming out next year.

Good try, hop. But there's nothing wrong with that statement.

Good for Mack that he's in touch with his players. Now we'll see how that translates to wins, or it means nothing...

Or “IF” it means nothing should be your comment. But be it far from me to put words in “your” mouth. :p

No, I said it correctly. Any feel good basketball stuff means nothing if the wins don't follow.

The bar is now higher for next year. Many in this fanbase will be disappointed with anything less than a Final Four. That's not MY expectation, but I'm good with that attitude among many of our fanboys...

Well I’m not one that “expects” a Final Four. But I never expect that. I only expect to have a very good season with a good run in the NCAA tourney.

Heard about a twitter poll on 93.9 today, that 50% of the respondents expect a Final Four. Something like 80% said an Elite Eight.

My definition of "expect" is meeting expectations. IOW anything less is some degree of a disappointment.

Regardless of what you and I think, if that's how a large part of this fanbase feels about next year, they're nuts. I'm perfectly OK with it as it bears on Mack and "Vince"...

We’re heading in an upward trajectory. All that matters. I’m sure “Vince” really cares about the views of some low-life Hoosier.
