A recap of the official visit to Louisville last weekend for 2016 No. 1 prospect Lauren Cox

Flower Mound, Tx., forward Lauren Cox, the No. 1 ranked prospect in the Class of 2016, made an official visit to the University of Louisville last weekend. Her father, Dennis Cox, chatted with Cardinal Authority about the visit.
Flower Mound, Tx., High School standout Lauren Cox, who had already made official visits to Tennessee and Notre Dame, spent the weekend at the University of Louisville with her parents for her third official visit.
The 6-foot-4 Cox, who is considered the No. 1 prospect nationally in the Class of 2016, left town on Monday and her father, Dennis, said "it was a good visit. It's tough because all of these schools know what they're doing. But it was really good."
The elder Cox said his daughter spent time with coach Jeff Walz and his staff and the players.
"I joked with coach Walz and said the food is good on visits and you always have fun," Dennis Cox said. "I don't know what's in my 17-year-olds mind. But I know it's going to be an extremely hard decision when it comes to that time.
"At Louisville, those guys know what they're doing. We enjoyed it. There was nothing negative at all."
Cox, who still has visits left to Connecticut and Baylor, is expected to make a decision just before signing day in November.
"There's not really a plan in place," Dennis Cox said. "But we have a couple of weeks after the last visit before the signing period. I think she wants to sign early so she can get on with her season.
"She has something in mind that she's looking for in a school. It's the combination of kids and coaches and campus. All five of her schools are slightly different but they all have the same stuff. There's really not a bad decision."
Dennis Cox said his family likes Jeff Walz's coaching style with the Cardinals and also likes the family atmosphere.
"There are a lot of coaches that do a lot with the top recruits," Cox said. "Jeff hasn't had the top recruits until now and he's already been to (two) championship games and to Final Fours. It shows us that he can do it without the talent, now what happens when he gets the talent."
Cox has won a pair of gold medals with USA Basketball and as a junior averaged 21.7 points, 15.3 rebounds and 5.4 blocked shots a game for Flower Mound. She has averaged a double-double three years in a row.
