I find them pretty boring but was looking forward to seeing Satterfield’s schemes this spring game. I think him not having a spring game is a bad idea. Not a big deal but also a missed opportunity to sell the program.

I’ve missed the last couple, and they are never well attended, but with the newness of the staff and direction of the program, I was really looking forward to it. But, at the end of the day, it’s his program. I think the move represents getting to work without distraction. Let’s just get some W’s in the fall.

It’s not a deal breaker.

I haven’t gone to one since they closed practices, and springs “games” are just practice.

And according to people on here who went, we’re only getting 7-8k to show.

When Strong was coach and the first year of Petrino we got anywhere from 15k to 20k. Best attendance is when it was on Friday evening.

More is being made of this than needs to be. Spring games are not really games and if you’ve ever attended one then you’d know that. I do want to see the new schemes but we can see those at the open practices. Pretty simple.

GO CARDS - BEAT EVERYBODY!!! God Bless America!!!

I’ve been to a couple of open practices at the indoor facility and it wasn’t something a casual fan would ever attend. The spring game is an opportunity to connect a larger portion of fans to the team. It’s also a great way to see alums that in the NFL.

I can't believe this news....20+years of working to get the program to where it is today, and we voluntarily take away an annual opportunity to
1. Sell the program to recruits.
2. Sell the program to new fans, or gain more interest from those that haven't bought season tickets before.
3. Take away a "thank you" moment to those that have and do pay for season tickets year after year, decade after decade.
4. Take away an opportunity for those that perhaps can't afford season tickets to not get in the stadium and see the team with their own eyes.

This is bush league shit. Name one program that we are gunning for that says "Cancel our spring game!"

Maybe I and my group should save ourselves the $3k+ we send to the CAF/ticket office for season tickets. If they want to reduce the importance of program building I can do my part and not stroke that check. It's easy to get tickets on the street and not pay for the garbage games, and CAF donation.

Everybody calm down. There is going to be a "spring scrimmage," it will be open to the public, football will be played but it will be a productive practice and work will get done. You'll be able to tailgate and it'll look like a game. There just won't be a scoreboard for it (which is meaningless anyway).

So there you go.

Yeah, on a damn thursday!?!? GTFO
That spin he just attempted was hog wash.
If having an extra day of practice was so big and important then I'm sure Saban and Dabo are next in line to cancel spring games.

Bama and Clemson didn't just come off of a 2-10 season. Maybe HCSS gets the sense there won't be a whole lot of enthusiam for a big "production" so he's doing a scrimmage instead, it's open, show up if you want. So you have a built-in excuse if there is little in attendance. Save yourself the embarrassment of having a big party that no one shows up for, to use a metaphor. Whatever. Coach Satterfield gets a pass from me until the 2019 season is complete, I'll judge things then. Personally I think we'll see a +4 or +5 in the wins for 2019 and that'll fix a lot of these problems.

I do thing it makes great practical sense to have Spring practice early, so you have more time to heal up any resulting injuries. That's very smart and practical, but probably not good if you want a big showing at a Spring game/scrimmage.

Think about the numbers of measurable snow events we have had over the last 10 years between March 1-10. Quite a few.
Oh well, just my opinion, and my opinion is all that matters when it comes to renewing tickets and donating. I just feel this move sends the message that overall program support and growth in all facets isn't as important as we once thought. Once you stop something like this, I don't see it ever coming back.

With all the question marks this team has, I think he potentially is concerned that the fans might be disappointed in what they would see and then it would affect ticket sales for games. If he keeps things close to the vest, there will be some excitement generated for the first game of the season enough for people to buy season tickets and not individual game tickets.

If having Notre Dame and Clemson on your home schedule doesn't convince you to buy season tickets, nothing will.
Not if you perform like you did last year... I love college football but I couldn’t last past the 3rd quarter for the NC St and UK games. Of course I outlasted most.

Last year is over....and last year is last year. Things change. Staffs change, players change. Bad experiences fade into the past and hope springs eternal.

Perhaps CFB fans of ND and Clemson in this area/region will want to take advantage of the rare opportunity to see their favorite teams in action right here in good ole Louisville, Kentucky and pay to attend.

And for no other reason than that, will purchase tickets for those games even if it means paying the price for the whole years schedule of games or some kind of a package deal. Who knows why people who are college football fanatics will do or spend to see their team play in person? IDK.

The beginning of each season, when hope springs eternal, the start of a new year and especially a team with a new staff, optimism abounds and the memory of last season has faded....who knows what will/can happen?

You may say that I am a dreamer...but I am not the only one.o_O

GIven the right environment people can change. We are all growing and changing with the passing of each day. Time marches on.

I am on board for the ride with the new coach CSS and his staff and team.:):D:):D:):D

Oh your quite welcome. If that is what you got out of it.

I repeat: I am on board for the ride with the new coach CSS and his staff and team.:):D:):D:):D

If he wants to just call it a scrimmage at Cardinal Stadium and fans can attend and CSS not call it a Spring Game.....I am fine with that. Don't sweat the small stuff....and its all small stuff.

All Hail U of L! Go Cards!

I’m ok with it. I’m just saying with men’s and women’s basketball success and baseball looking like another great season, fans are going to be chomping at the bit to see what football might looked like...

PS - I was always more a McCarthy guy over Lennon :D

You arent going to boycott the season cause you cant watch a half speed practice? That seems like a huge overreaction.
