Everyone on here knows I don't mind being the lightning rod for jokes and criticism, I'm a self-inflicted sadist lol. I truly believe we go no further than 100 miles down I-65 and hire Stansberry. He has taken a s--t pile of amess that redneck Ray Harper left behind (purposefully I might add--did it at 2 previous schools as well) , recruited a 5 star Center to WKU of all places (I already know how that ended). He's tkane that crap and in less than two years has them 22-7, 14-2 in CUSA and even if they don't win the conference tourney, they did Purdue and got homered at Wisky. They should get in. He won two games vs Cal in Rupp Arena at MSU, recruits like crazy and best of all, his buy out should be very affordable. I know the obvious response, he's old. Yet look what his old butt has done at WKU. I'll even say he has the best team in this state right now. Time to blow me up..have fun!

He was at Miss State for about 15 years, and never got past the 2nd round of the NCAAT. It does seem he is and has been a pretty good recruiter. Probably not a horrible hire, but not the homerun we're looking for, based on his history.

Never made it past the 2nd round.Decent record in a GARBAGE conference. I'd take him over DP and Kentucky Payne. Don't forget that shady recruit that came and left 50 times this past off season.

Stansbury is a great coach. But, keep in mind that Louisville is unlikely to be competitive in BB for a few years no matter who the coach is. Padgett is a class act and seems to be a fast learner. He was given a job that would have been difficult for anyone and has responded better than most people expected. Why not give him the opportunity to further gain experience during the meager years that are coming regardless of the coach? He will either develop into a great coach or the school will then be in a much better position to hire one as his replacement.

He won two games vs Cal in Rupp Arena at MSU,!
He never beat Calipari once while he was at Mississippi State. If I'm not mistaken, he didnt make the tournament the last 3 seasons he was at MSU.

He is a good recruiter, but I was never all that impressed with him as a coach. He did well at MSU early on, but he was coaching at MSU back when the conference was in divisional seeding for the tournament..so he was really only coaching against SEC West teams while avoiding Kentucky, Florida w/ Billy, Tennessee w/ Pearl twice a year. As bad as the SEC was as a whole during that period, the SEC west was much worse than the east.

He had one really good year because of the Baylor scandal sending Lawrence Roberts his way, but they really never did anything in the big dance.

Good recruiter and good mid-major coach, but nowhere near the level of coach for a top tier program like Louisville.

Thanks coach Padgett...i wouldn't mind if we gave you a chance...but can you recruit?

Stansbury, NO. Padgett, NO.

In descending order of preference:

Eric Musselman
Shaka Smart
Chris Mack
Morgan, do you know how Musselman got the 4-star recruits he signed in 2016? As far as Mack and Smart, we have no idea if they're clean.

Big question marks that need answering...
