NC State thoughts?

What are your thoughts about NC State tomorrow? I see that the Cards are favored by double digits, but I feel like that's rather optimistic with Hicks/Snider out.

No Cat Barber or the clutch Trevor Lacey this year (whew) but they evidently have a fantastic guard in Dennis Smith, Jr.

We have our work cut out for us.
Smith jr is a hand full. He has tremendous range and is fast with the ball.

Adu loves to dunk the ball. He does not throw up the ridiculous 1 foot floater, he gets up in the air and dunks on people.

Maverick would love nothing more than to have a hot night from 3.


If we play our game and use our big guys in the PAINT we can wear them out. If we play a perimeter game we leave the door open.

Our backups have to find stability and calm down. Let the game come to them.

If we do that, we win this game.

They have two players projected to be drafted in the first round of the next NBA draft. We have none (maybe Mitchell). They have multiple players that were part of their Sweet 16 team that lost to us. And they have a 3 point shooting wing player that was heavily recruited by UofL. I would consider that ample talent. The great thing about sports is that talent is only part of the equation.

Snider is not going to play against NC State. It is important that his injury heal 100%.

Pitino I think said Snider is about "10 days out" and that was this past tuesday, I think. Which sets up great to get a game in next Saturday at Boston College and getting back into the groove to then play Virginia the following Monday

Yes, this NC State is more than capable of beating Louisville. Throw in the fact that they just beat Duke at Cameron. This is not your typical Duke team, but that is impressive.

You cannot take any game for granted in this conference. See outcomes in the ACC today as an example.

I like smith jr and Adu. But I believe we are too strong inside for them to handle.

Obviously it depends on how his treatment is going but I wouldn't be surprised if they held him out of the UVA game as well, especially if we win the next two without him. They play such a physical style and quite frankly it is a horrible matchup for us anyway.

I think we will win as well, but that will be because we have a better TEAM while they have good pieces.

I'm not really concerned about the outcome of this game win or lose. I'd just like to see us come out of the game without losing another player to injury.

The Cards are short-handed right now, and short-handed at the position going up against the opponents best player, and NC St does have history of playing up/down to their opponent.

I like what we got, think the Cards can and will make a deep run regardless of seeding - this game does have me on watch.

FWIW and its not much considering it's coming from me, but I've seen the spread as high as -14 for the Cards. I don't like it. Seems a little high for a team with injuries to their two key guards in an early Sunday afternoon game against an athletic team. I also thought -7.5 for UK v. KU was off as well. Maybe the Cards blow them out. It's highly possible. NC State has been way up and down all year.

Can the Cards carry the momentum from Pitt and build even more confidence in their bench?

McMahon, Levitich and King will have most of my attention. Adel seems to be coming into his own as well.

The combination of the Cards Bigs should get them the W today though. A win today builds confidence.

I don't like the spread either. I would have liked to see it closer to the Clemson spread which was -5 or so.

And Carolina, FSU, ND, all dropped a game yesterday so that means a win for us and we're set up perfectly conference wise. With UVA, UNC, and ND left on the schedule.

Well, technically that's true but we are 1 game in the loss column from being tied for the lead in the ACC.

This is going to sound crazy, but I'm more impressed with NC State than FSU. Mitchell and Mahmoud were both taken out of the FSU game early by the refs. If that doesn't happen, I think we'd have won that game. Their inside players had no offensive skills at all. Plus we shot lights out today.

We continue to improve. Mangok is ballin.

We need spaulding Johnson and anas to give everything when they get on the court like manhok is.

Adel needs confidence. He falls on his sword when he misses his first shot.

Pitino is doing his best coaching ever. As we continue to get better, and grow closer this team is going to be a very tough out.

Hicks and snider will be back in 2 weeks.

Get your traveling funds in order. This team is going places.

Agree completely. We will be a very tough match-up for anyone with all the big men we have and the quickness both outside and inside. We'll be a nightmare to prep for. Also, this might be the best UL rebounding team I've ever seen. I need to look at the team stats, but I don't remember a UL team winning the rebound stat in so many games.
