I have two concerns with hiring a coordinator from a huge program.
First, their recruiting chops. It’s one thing to successfully recruit a kid to Notre Dame or Georgia or Ohio State. It’s another to recruit them to Louisville. Charlie did it, but he had loooooong relationships with high school coaches in hot beds to rely on.
Second, knowing they can manage the role of head coach and all that comes with it. Charlie struggled with parts of it, but on the whole was ok. This time though, given the serious dysfunction that exists on our team, this is even more critical in my mind.
