I'm 51 and have been a UofL since I was able to choose a team. I never thought anything could shake that but the events of the last few weeks have.

The last time I felt remotely close to this was when they hired Pitino. Didn't like him, didn't want him and was very upset about it. Ironically the thing that brought me to his side was the venemous reaction of the UK fans. Had they been quiet about it, I never would have accepted Pitino at all.

Pitinos firing didn't bother me. Long overdue. Jurichs' firing bothered me, but even moreso when the people that did it wouldn't talk to the press or answer what "just cause" they had after they did it.

I'm sure that things will settle and I'll come around to being a UofL "fan" again, but I'm certainly not feeling it at this moment. Postel, Schnatter and all those other cowards can suck it as far as I'm concerned. If you're going to get rid of the best AD in the country, you damn well better be ready to stand up like a man and account for your actions rather than slip out the back with no comment.

Likely couldn't speak to cause due to lawsuits coming.....Likely to BOT as a whole, the University, and NOT as individuals. Those voting no to termination would be.immune to suit as individual and could voice their opinion.

Yeah, I hear you. I went to Chicago for a work trip and that was the first time I ever travelled without taking any Louisville gear with me. I have a 2013 banner hanging in my man cave, and I am probably going to take it down, at least for a while. I am still here posting, so I'm still a fan, a supporter, and still passionate, but I need some timespace before I feel pride again.

I am going to try to make some roadtrips this basketball season though. This will be the last good team for a while, need to enjoy every ounce of it.

Nobody in their right mind can defend what James Ramsey, Jurich, and Pitino have gotten away with. It will be interesting to see if Haley Jurich remains employed with addidas and Mark Jurich stays at U of L. Talk about nepotism and insider conections. Then you've got Pitino suing addidas after Jurich lets Pitino get $1.5 million a year from the last addidas contract. Anybody that doesn't know they should be ousted probably thinks Jerry Sandusky is a cheerleader.

Takes a while. Then one day you wake up and you remember you're a fan of the school and the kids that are putting it out there.
Then you move on

Oh bull shite........... Sandusky was raping little boys and others covered for him. If you think that buying players is the same as raping little boys you need some serious therapy. Not even in the same state, much less same ball park. Like I said in my OP, there will be some UK fans to bring me back into the fold again. To even bring the two up as being comparable is beyond belief.

I am on the same page with you on Pitino. Already not missing him. my first memory of a UL game was with my father when we lost to Ohio State in the 1961 Mideast Regional at Freedom Hall. First time I saw him shed a tear. Did not know until later Bob Knight was on that Buckeye team. Hang in there, we will survive. Today's press conference for our new assistant, Greg Paulus, was great and Vince Tyra's follow up was even more impressive!

I wholeheartedly agree with everything except my fandom is unshaken. If nothing else, intensified for the coming years. The team and our coaches need our support in the coming years and that includes ME! I don't think the wife will mind another trip or so to the Yum! every year.

Morgantown - My banner still hangs, surrounded by numerous photos of the team, and will continue to do so. FWIW I met a gentleman a few years ago who was still proudly wearing his WKU Final Four ring from 1971. They can say our NC never happened but everyone knows it did.

I'm personally excited for the future. Obviously the FBI probe and the forthcoming NCAA sanctions not withstanding, I'm excited.

I'm happy about a Jurich-less era of Louisville athletics with a more financially responsible atmosphere. Starting with not paying our AD an absurd salary and providing him with an insane number of perks. If you give any AD in the world the blank checkbook that Tom Jurich has had for the last 20 years then they could have done what Tom has done...UL athletics isn't going to crumble because Tom Jurich isn't here.

I'm very excited to see where UL basketball heads in the future. I'm looking forward to a HC that will embrace the program, the former players, the legacy and one that will bring the program into the new era of college basketball and not make everything about himself. I look forward to a coach that will have fun with the position and be seen as more down to earth.

I'm also excited because I've honestly disliked the level of hatred that has went on between UK and UL over the last 15 years. I think UK fans are going to really miss Tom Jurich and Rick Pitino because both of them were so easy to hate so I think having new guys in power may make this rivalry more tolerable of humane and I look forward to that.

Are you for serious? I'm sure you're glad because you're obviously not a UoL fan. Why are you even here? Go back to Cats Illustrated, party with your friends, fire off some fireworks. Happy day for you (and East).

This is such an obvious troll post I feel bad even replying to it. Not a single component of what you post is either A) accurate or B) would actually reflect a fan of UoL.

TJ was transcendent and there are many AD's who have done far less with far more in support (not pay but actual department financial support). No coach is going to embrace the "fun" and be more down to earth...at least one that will be successful here or be here more than 2-3 years before we fire them....oh and F*** humane, it's a rivalry. There are many fans that are already cordial to one another. The butt heads (on both sides) that are already intolerable are still going to be intolerable.

For me, the best news of the FBI investigation is the NBA honestly reconsidering the one and done rule.
(I know, I know, just hear me out)
It seems over half these kids end up in the D league before they contribute. A few notable exceptions. Most of the players have to learn a different style, a new system.
If there are legitimately 8 kids a year ALL scouts are convinced are ready, let them jump from high school. If not, and they have NO interest at all in school, go euro or Asia leagues.
If they go to college, do the NFL three year program.
The game is too watered down everywhere.....when I see UK ranked fourth when there are eight freshmen on a team that haven't stepped on a college court, that's insane that the game is now that weak.

Probably one of them SuCkS fans who pulls for the Cards when his cayuts arent playing.
Notice he ALWAYS uses UL instead of UofL.

The goal by SuCkS was to get Jurich removed, not Pitino.
They succeeded and are celebrating.

Strongtino is a UK Fan...The Litter Box is filled with his anti UofL post!!!

It's another one of Grovers Multiple Personalities!!!

You're in dreamland...

Pitino everyone basically agrees they didn't want to see him go but needed to go. Jurich is another story. I tend to go back and forth, but I think the University did the right thing. For me it came down to could Jurich and the current BOT work together the answer was a resounding no.

The reality is BOT are the leaders of the University, Jurich answers to them and that is complete shift on how he operated for 20 years. That is what made him effective it allowed him to be incredibly effective. As soon as Ramsey was out Jurich had a choice play nice or try to use his influence to beat the BOT. According to Billy Reed no one is pushing Grissom around. There was no way the Univeristy could move forward with this kind of aversial relationship. It doesn't matter who created that relationship all that matter is it wasn't going to be repaired.

Time heals all wounds.

From a purely practical standpoint, this is probably the biggest argument for letting Jurich go. I wanted to keep him but in reality how is he going to work with the university at this point? It'd be impossible.

I have the same pain and lack of fandom also. I have been a fan since Jeff Hall and the early mid 80's..so 30+ years. The past few weeks and even years has been hard to be a fan, hold your head high and be proud to wear the red white and black. I have a 8 year old son that is following in my footsteps and is a big fan also. It is hard to explain to him what is going on and why some kids may say things to him or make fun of his Louisville swag.

I have taken a break as well as many posters above. I gathered all my Louisville hats(11) shirts and hoodies(24), gloves(5), jackets(4), banners, pictures, and stuffed it all in a couple of totes to just put away out of my sight for awhile. It has been embarrassing to be a fan of late. I will be glad when this Is all passed and I can get back to games, tickets, gear, tv games, take my family and enjoy a weekend in Louisville.

Time wounds all heels........the adversarial relationship with TJ will eventually get Grissom and the current BOT.

Hiring the ex-dukie to the staff may have pushed me over the edge OP.
Don't have any fondness for Dukies, but DP being versed in RP's philosophy is dipping into Coach K's line is IMO a good move. Supposedly a good recruiter, as is Trent Johnson. DP seems to be thinking ahead past the role of interim HC.

I wasn't serious. I think we'd all agree whoever becomes assistants figure to do a better job than some of the previous ones under Rick.

A good recruiter...well I hope so. Because a 3 star is what we'll be getting excited about for the next few years.

No one knows what anyone will be getting after this is all said and done. Should the NBA follow through with their proposal the recruiting landscape will change yet again.
Either go.ahead and pay the kids or let the NBA do what they did with Larry Bird....draft him as a junior and hold the rights till he graduates. If the NBA scouts make.a.mistake, oh well.

It's a valid argument that Jurich was probably not going to work well with the new Board. That doesn't justify getting rid of him anyway possible. If his circumstances were difficult enough, he probably would have gotten rid of himself. But the clowns in charge couldn't wait for that.

I hope Jurich takes U of L to the cleaners, and to amplify the situation, I hope Pitino does too...

Nice post!!!!

He wants UofL to truly become the little brother of UK. The reason uk fans hate Jurich is because he built UofL into a major program. If in 20 years we were still in Cusa or the aac they'd have no problem with him. We'd be the plucky little brother who tries hard. If Vince Tyra ends up being a great AD they will hate him the same way. If the athletic budget is cut and we sports becomes an afterthought for UofL uk fans will think he is a great guy.
