Not breaking news, but that is what I've been told. UofL is pursuing grad transfer options assuming this scenario. Coach Pitino talking to Mark Alstork is step one (although Alstork is considering the NBA route himself).

Kinda good news that we are considering a grad transfer over a late freshman because that means that we want Langford bad for '18 season.

Mitchell isn't leaning either way yet. He is going to the combine and will see what his feedback is. He's spending a few days at home and his parents are helping him arrange workouts for teams.

Do you mind disclosing your source?

FWIW, there was an article in the CJ about it.
The article didn't quote anyone other than Alstork. Coach is working on plans if Donovan leaves. For someone to gather he is leaning that way from the article is a big stretch.

Well it might be a stretch but why wouldn't we be looking at a big man since we lost JJ and Matz, unless a 2 guard is more of a priority. If we are looking at a guard it has to be a safety factor for possibly losing Adel and/or DM.

It's a safety factor, nothing here implied Donovan is making the leap which is what the OP insinuated. Coach should have contingency plans moving forward. He didn't plan on Nanu leaving and that more than likely cost a FF trip last season.

Put me in the group that thinks we don't know what the young man is doing, because I don't think he does..

If you are smart nowaday, you make contingency plans. This goes for any program that recruit and develop players that can make the jump to the next level. If you are only recruiting and selling your program to next level players only, you leave the players to make contingency plan when they are are not good enough to leave.

Mitchell has been heading to the draft for several weeks now. Fortunately Pitino and Mitchell were on the same page, unlike the Nanu situation.
