Mississippi St owned us this year...

ended our football season, ended our men's basketball season and now ended our women's basketball season.
Don’t want to sound like a Cat fan bit the no call on our last layup attempt in regulation was total bullshit. There really seemed to be an anti UL bias from the ESPN announcers the whole game. Just frustrated as hell, would have been a great ending to the best week UL has had in a couple of years.

I never saw the game live, just the highlights. My initial reaction was there was a foul and repeated views confirm a bump in my mind. Myisha just doesn't miss layups that badly unless there is contact.

Not the 1st time a ref has swallowed a whistle at game's end, nor will it be the last. C`est la vie!

I really think ESPN was wanting a rematch between UConn and MSU. Norte Dame botched for them hate to say but I am an ACC homer go Irish.

Well, they didn't really end our football season. It was the last game regardless. Their NIT team beat our NIT team. Whoopity Doo! Last night, however, was painful. Not necessarily losing to them, but due in large part to horrible officiating. I mean, that was bad. Women's officiating as a whole is very bad. Not sure why that is.

The bullshit we've been hearing for almost 30 years now (thanks John Clougherty!) has been for refs to eat their whistle at the end of games. Then the cliche, "let the players decide the game." Unfortunately, this philosophy handed down by former Villanova Professor of Philosophy and NCAA officiating coordinator, Hank Nichols, cost us the game. That philosophy means defensive players can now knock the living crap out of you the last 5-10 seconds of a game and not have to worry about a whistle. That's an unfair advantage to the defense and it does decide games and it cost us a NC! So, with all the class I can muster, bite me Hank Nichols lol

We......what was your cut? Am I missing out on something here? Zipp, did “we”get a cut and I missed out? I’m one hell of a fan so I need a dolla.

Yeah.....we play it. Not very well but we make millions off of it so there's that.

Women’s basketball officiating is bad because overall, while it is improving, the basketball play is still somewhat below where it needs to be. It’s why there are fewer upsets, why there are 104-59 blowouts, why their tournament seeds hold out. Even U of L games against the UConns, ND, Duke and Carolina, you see girls falling down almost every play, missed layups, lots of off balanced shots. It’s hard to officiate what’s a foul when it’s hard to determine if literally a “touch” caused them to foul or they just lost their balance. The game would be unbearable to watch if they called every violation; 3 seconds in the lane. They could literally call it every play; maybe not in our games but in general as a sport. Like I said, it’s improving. The skills are improving, now the rest of the game has to follow. It will get there eventually.
