I read a couple comments here tonite in defense of Padgett, that Pitino lost games like Seton Hall.

Since 2010, Pitino lost three preconference games at home: LPT in 2010 and 2014, and Drexel in 2010. And the LPT games were not the equivalent of Seton Hall. Both of those years, I think LPT was Top Five if not #1 or #2. Obviously, Drexel had a good team in 2010.

I'm in the camp of cutting Padgett plenty of slack, but not by rewriting history...

In 2010-11 we lost at home to Charlotte and Western Carolina along with losses to Arkansas and Western KY away. All in November or the early part of December. So, yes a Pitino coached team “could” have lost to SH. And I think that’s point people were trying make.

The fact is will never know. We are going through the normal growing pains plus the issues with a new coaching staff. But I’m definitely not pointing fingers at Padgett.

And losing the senior night game to a BAD USF team was 100X worse.

USF nearly made the Sweet 16 that year, six point loss in the second round of the tourney. Sucks to lose on senior night, but the Western Carolina/Drexel losses were much worse.

The USF loss was inexcusable. It was the last game of the year and senior night. Pitiful loss regardless of how good USF was. That should NEVER happen regardless of who the coach is. I agree with those that say Pitino is gone and we should let it GO.

GO CARDS - BEAT EVERYBODY!!! God Bless America!!!

I'm not bringing Pitino's name up. Those trying to rewrite history are...

Probably need to wait and see what kind of year Seton Hall has before categorizing if it were a good or bad loss. Also, probably need to wait to see where the Cards fit in.
Jay Bilas wrote some very nice things about Seton Hall. When the season is done, we're probably going to look back on that SH game and realize it wasn't a crushing defeat after all.

14. Seton Hall Pirates
Kevin Willard has an experienced and hungry team. Seton Hall has made the innocent climb to contending, and it seems to want more. Experience and talent are great things. Hungry experience and talent can be really hard to play against.

Quality of an opponent vs senior night/last home game of the season. Guess we just define importance differently. I'll take a senior night loss every season against a decent team when the other option is a loss to a non-NCAA tourney mid-major or worse.

Pitino had a # of nice wins pre conference at home... a few I remember, Purdue, tOSU, Memphis..... all pretty close ball games. Seton Hall is more than likely in that class of team this year - solid tourney team. But who knows?

The reality is the new coach ain't the old coach, and we should probably not compare their results.

Comparing Padgett with someone else ain't needed. He was put into a tough situation and doesn't deserve a lotta fan backlash for trying to do that job.

Again, that's a separate matter from any attempt to denigrate Pitino to make Padgett look better. In ain't needed, and it ain't accurate...

Might be too soon to tell whether it’s a good or bad loss but I’m betting that the way we lost will end up feeling familiar.

Ain’t you skirting the fence much. On one hand you keep saying that CDP is going to coach us to the NIT or he’s somehow made Snider a worst player and in other posts you make excuses for him. Which is it?

One of the ugliest games I've ever sat through. About like a root canal..

Twisting my words won't work... We very well may end up in the NIT, and Q shouldn't be blamed for how he's playing under Padgett who's not the coach Q signed to play for. Even if the season ends that way, none of that makes Padgett the fall guy exclusively.

Who IS to blame--if you must--is not exactly the subject of this thread. Distorting Pitino's record to that end won't wash with me...

I think the difference is. On RP losing games he should of won. In my opinion. It had very little to do with coaching. And some times it had everything to do with coaching. In 1996 SEC championship game. RP sits walker and sent a message to his team before the tourny. Took a L that day. But hung a banner in the end. DP is going to and is making some mistakes. That's all inexperience that leads to bad coaching decisions. In my opinion that's the difference in these types of losses between the two coaches.

Haha Zipp, didn't get the result you were looking for over here on the free board did you..? Lol

For those of you not on the Collision Course, this thread is s continuation of a debate Zipp and I had over there, he's over here looking to get supporters for his POV..

Don't flatter yourself... You're hardly an influence on my behavior.

The "couple of comments" noted in the OP were on the free site, nothing more or less, which is why the thread is here.

You're neither a deterrent nor a source of anything inspirational for me. I'll let you know if that changes...
