Yeah what he said. Plus he couldn’t hit shots consistently.I liked Cross at the beginning of the season after showing toughness in playing after his finger got dislocated.
However it appears he had chemistry and maybe attitude problems with the team as the season progressed.
Apparently your definition of baller is different than mine. Yeah he hustle, which we tell young kids takes absolutely no talent to hustle, but a baller puts the ball in the basket. Good luck to Matt.Dude is a baller, played hard, went after every loose ball. His Louisville experience probably wasn't what he hoped for.
Kid is definitely better than he showed this past year but, I think that could probably be said about a few of them. Mack did a poor job of constructing the roster and, a worse job developing them.Apparently your definition of baller is different than mine. i stand corrected. Mykasa on the womens team is a baller without scoring much but Matt was a far cry from what she did.

I guess we all see things differently. I’m all for giving kids 2nd chance but I read the stuff where he was asked to leave the Miami team, not just because he wanted to transfer. Then I see a guy wearing two different color socks.. followed soon by a three or four game absence for whatever reason although there were rumors of locker room rifts. Not all was Malik and not all was Mack. Was he player of the year? No. But I saw that guy diving after loose balls and putting forth effort when his teammates were standing around watching. I'm not trying to make him more than what he was but like BPGhost said I think his regression showed he was a better player than we got to see. Imagine that effort with refined coaching. Again I'm not making him out to be a 5* but we need dudes and the guy, at least to my eyes, works hard and that gets you somewhere.
He also was up smiling and enthusiastically cheering on his teammates in the ACCT when he barely saw the floor (if he even did, can't remember). I dunno, I saw some potential in there, could be wrong.

Right, it looks a little concerning at the moment. I have to hope and trust that CKP has a plan and will end up with at least a decent team when all is said and done. As of right now it looks like only Ellis, Curry, and James are coming back.It all has to play out but right now I'm concerned we're going to have to hold tryouts in order to hold 5 on 5 practices.
I would question the unnamed source who reported that Cross was asked to leave. A coach could either, not play the kid, or if his behavior rose to affecting the morale of the team, the staff could suspend him or even kick him off the team. That does not appear to match the events that played out in Miami that season. Not sure the mismatching of socks is an issue either, as I saw Ellis and others do the same thing on different occasions.
Perhaps some enterprising reporter will interview some of the staff or players for some insight as to what explains the bizarre season. As for me, there were several kids that exhibited behavior that would be interesting to understand. Clearly the team‘s horrid performance cannot be assigned to anyone player on or off the court.
Right. Miami was down to 7 rostered scholarship players and yet they still “released” Cross. It doesn’t make sense that Cross would leave on his own if he was bitching about playing time. Funny thing after Miami cleans house, they make it to the Sweet Sixteen. I don’t think enough homework was done on Cross to see if he was a fit. It was more of a case of getting bodies to fill a roster.Jan 29, 2021 “The University of Miami men’s basketball team, already struggling with injuries and a depleted roster, on Thursday announced that freshman forward Matt Cross “will no longer be with the program, effective immediately.”
Not sure if he was kicked off the team or quit but regardless it happened while their season was ongoing.
There will be roughly 2k players in the portal. Guys still putting their names in there. Then they are going to wait to see who turns pro.It all has to play out but right now I'm concerned we're going to have to hold tryouts in order to hold 5 on 5 practices.
