Big shout out to these guys today.

Mangok- You could tell he really wanted this game and did some work inside. 18 pts, 5 rebs, 2 blocks. Pitino joked in the post game that Mangok is a seasoned 35 year old veteran. He played like a veteran today. Felt he helped calm the team down.

Snider- Steady PG play today and hit some big shots. 16 pts, 4 rebs, 5 assists, 1 steal

Adel- Hot shooting in the first half helped the Cards stay afloat. Ended up 6-7 from the field. 16 points.

The player I was most impressed with today was Mitchell. He was ICE COLD from the floor and it didn't bother the rest of his game AT ALL. He played great defense, rebounded the ball well and was throwing some nice passes.

9 points, 10 (yes TEN) rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals. This young man didn't shoot well but man he stepped up in every other way for his team today. Oh and he had just 1 turnover.

If we're to beat UM, Mitchell better come to play on Sunday, bottomline!! Gonna need another superior effort from Mangok too.

He did. Coming to play doesnt always have to be offense. He improved big today. Look at the stat lines of the Duke and Wake Forest game where he wasnt shooting well. The rest of his stats were bad too.

Today, he didn't shoot well, but the rest of his stats and defense helped the team a whole lot. And that's what we need when he's not shooting well. And he did that. Hopefully this means that he's learned from the Wake and Duke game to contribute elsewhere when you cant score points. And today he did that. And he did come to play.

But against Mich he is going to have to score at a high clip. We cant cout on Mango to have that offensive output back to back. Q and Deng you know for the most part will score consistenlty but Mitch is going to have to be that man on Offense also.

Michigan doesn't have much of an inside game and don't really have strong interior defenders. Mango should have a good offensive game.

Prblem is if we dont have better perimetyer defense on them matching inside twos with threes aint gonna work and then that opens us up for back door plays. this game comes down to how we defend the three plain and simple. Ifwe dont defend the three better we dont win!

I'm not denying any of that. We need to hit some outside shots to beat Michigan and we probably need Mitchell to have a decent game. We aren't going to outscore them on the 3 point line though and we don't need to. We need to keep the gap respectable though. I think this game ends up a lot like the Vatech game. They will have the advantage scoring on the perimeter and the combo of our guards and big men will have the advantage inside. I hope Pitino puts Adel on Walton. Michigan usually goes as he goes and I can us throwing a major wrench in their offensive game if he is slowed down.

Thats why i see Ray starting over Jaylen to give Rick that guy who can move along that three line.

Steady is perfect description of Q's play - particularly when we needed it n the first half.

Excellent post.
Winning is the name of the game.
Others picked up the scoring, while Donovan was a stat stuffer.
If Donovan averages 9 points and the Cards win 5 more tourney games,
what do you call him.....................

I noticed this, too. He was also celebrating his teammates baskets instead of getting down for missing his. The assists to Q on a three and to Adel that froze the defense on a fast break really got Mitchell pumped up.
