During the 2015 summer games in Puerto Rico, I remember one of the players on the PR national team told Pitino that Mangok was their most important player because he doesn't take crap from anyone. They tried trash talking him but it didn't affect his play like it did with other players. Also, back then Coach P said he was surprised that Mangok made the Australian team for the World University Games.

Going to need him down the stretch.

Agree. Many fans have been overly hard on Mango. He's the toughest of the big guys we have.

He lacks some skill and is not the most talented, but he is not afraid to mix it up.

Will need him for sure.

For all of his lack of certain skills, Mangok has been, and will be, an important component of this team. Anas is more skilled overall however sometimes we simply need more beef and a bit of attitude in the middle. That's where Mangok comes in. His added muscle and bulk down low have been important to this team even if it didn't show up in the stat line such as when he didn't budge against Bam in the Uk game.

It seems Mangok may also finally have knocked off the rust from last year's injury. Remember he was looking pretty good before he went down last season- even on the offensive end. At this point, with the personnel the team has, we need BOTH Mangok and Anas contributing. They both bring unique abilities and skills to the court, and some games one or the others abilities will be needed a bit more than the other.

Mathiang playing for the Australian team was huge for his offensive development. Unfortunately he got injured last year and he didn't get to fully show it. I expect Mathiang to continue to improve on offense threw ACC play. Keep working hard big man!

...I am a Cardinal. I dont sugar coat everything, i speak what i feel.

It offends some, but most get my position after 10 years on this site.
I'm the last guy to expect sugar coating when I don't do it myself. That's not what's at issue...

When you make a statement in print, you need to consider what you MIGHT say in the future on the same subject. Ripping Pitino because of how much time he's giving Mangok and then saying "we need [Mangok] to play like his hair is on fire" are positions that are difficult to reconcile. How does Mangok play with that level of intensity if he doesn't get playing time in the first place? You're saying you want two contradictory things.

It's OK to change your mind or rethink your position. But you're gonna have to say that's what you're doing. Otherwise, you come off looking like a hypocrite and someone who can't keep track of his own statements. Has nothing to do with "sugar coating"...

Can we critique your position on james quick like you critique my position on adel and mangok?

I believe and stand by every word.

We have a team that could win a national championship. Certain things have to develop for that to happen, but winning is not far fetched.

Some people are pissed when any statement is made challenging a player pr how the coach plays him.

Some never make any statements and just scoff at everything on a messageboard.

I am a fan that makes my opinions known. I dont scoff at other fans because our opinions do not mesh. I try to understand why they feel the way they do.

Great to see him contributing so much. He's a big part of the current winning streak and a big part of why we're running up such big scores against teams. Keep up the great work!

Like his game right now. He just needs to play under control and not try to do to much. A very important steady part of our team.
