Not harsh at all. They knew the rules and the consequences to breaking them.
Now had they decided to trip someone during a game, they would have been fine for at least 2 trips.
Rick needs to get out in front of this and give details. Not because we need to know necessarily, but because people are going to make up their own stories/rumors if he doesn't. Not what the program needs right now.
I think that's what he's already done. They broke curfew and he suspended them because they broke curfew. I don't see how he can get any further out in front of this. Do we need to know why they broke curfew? I don't care why personally. I only care they broke it and now the team suffers because of their selfish act. They put themselves above the teams needs and coach did the right thing to send the right message. He also did the right thing by relieving Mangok of his captain duties. He's no leader if he's going to break the rules and encourage a younger player to break them with him.
Can you imagine Coach Cal benching two of his best players before a game against a team like Uva for a curfew violation? In the long run this could be good for the "team". No one is above the rules.
Because of the ugly whores, everything is going to be looked at with suspicion. If that is all this is, then I agree with you. I also agree that I don't care personally about the "why," I just don't want the "why" to be made up or exaggerated by other sources.
I get that but the cold hard reality is that stain isn't washing out anytime soon with the social media we have to deal with today. If they did something crazy stupid while breaking curfew, it'll be out there somewhere - true or not. We live in a fake news environment now. Not sure what can be done about it either.
Chris Jones got suspended one game for breaking curfew (I think?). This suspension is consistent at least.

FWIW, I don't frequent the bars as much as I used to(getting old), but every time I do, Mangok is always out and about. I'm sure he was Saturday night as well. Can't stay away from Tin Roof.
For some reason, i see us being better as a team tonight. Vj king gets to ball, spalding gets more minutes and I guarantee we win This game.
We are a better team with them on the bench. Especially Mango. Adel needs to spend his free time dribbling the ball.

Why did they break curfew? Because their college students. He handled it the correct way and I agree the skank effect is always on people's minds....pretty sure they would have been suspended regardless. He's tough as nails as he should be.
One thing fore sure our limits are being tested. Don't know what to expect tonight but Anas and Stockman better gave good games.
Cards are one of the more deeper teams. Still have Anas, Ray and JJ. That's still more front court depth than UK, VA and Kansas. And there is Matz as well.
Mangok has been playing well and Ray has not so Ray needs to get it going. Deng Adel hurts but VJ King is there to take the slack. Not a lot of teams back up their wing starter with a McDonald's All-American.
The Cards have the depth to overcome missing four players but the guys remaining have to play well to beat Virginia. King needs to make his open shots and not get lost on defense and Ray has to stay out of foul trouble and make the bunnies.
And maybe just maybe we see Q make it back in time to keep up the winning.

If I was a 7 foot basketball player, I'd throw my **** out in the room and let all the ladies swim up to it. I can't blame him for that. I do blame him for violating curfew.

Now, realize that this is a huge hurdle you have just passed. I mean huge, like Godzilla huge or Dolly Parton tits huge. That is the dumbest thing you have ever said. That is really saying something.
You have obviously been watching some other team play the last 2 weeks. I sure do hope Stockman plays well. I hope he becomes the next Rick Smits, but I don't see that happening. He will have to get some minutes, but most of them probably go to Anas and Spalding. I think UVA is a particularly bad matchup for Stockman due to their physical style of play. Love to be wrong and win by 20.
