Malik Williams out for rest of season

Not sure what the future holds for him playing basketball. Foot problems for bigs are tough to fully heal. Hoping he can come back strong. Regardless, he is a smart, natural leader and think he’d make an excellent coach someday.

This isn't me being a biased fan, but I've met Malik. He's one hell of a good dude, and I absolutely hate this for him. It's hard to say if he'll have an NBA career. I wish him nothing but the best.

No matter what his future holds, Malik is a true L1C4.

He committed to Rick. Played hard for Padgett. Stayed for Mack. Fought through injuries and even came back for this year. He could've shut it down, but he fought tooth & nail to get in the lineup this season with the risk of injury. This guys gave it his all.

When it would've been easy for mass transfers after Rick, he and guys like Nwora, VJ, Darius Perry, & Ryan stayed and kept the program running.

University of Louisville senior forward/center Malik Williams reinjured his right foot in the second half at Duke and will be sidelined for 4-6 weeks. The injury will not require surgery.

Hate that this happened for Malik. Wish him a speedy and full recovery.

I wish I could give this post a thousand likes. One of the best I've ever read on this forum in regards to Louisville basketball. Cheers, sir.

I think we'll look back on the 2018 & 2019 teams in a more positive light in the next few years. Things could've fallen apart had it not been for a great group of guys. Cardinal graduate Padgett took over the team because the guys wanted him. The players didn't transfer and didn't quit. I mean from Rick's firing, to the UVA collapse, the Duke comeback, and other things, they didn't give up.

The program could've FALLEN APART. Padgett saved the roster in 2018. Mack came in and kept it together too. Guys like Malik & Nwora won't have a banner or a lot of big moments we'll remember like others, but those guys kept us from collapsing. Even last year, a team that had a chance to make a run had March stolen from them, but we've kept fighting.

Seriously, we're upset we've taken a small step back, but honestly we've done so well considering what could've happened. Look at Indiana after Sampson & the early years of Crean which ruined that program. We've held on to good recruits and still have been a relevant competitive team even with sanction imposed and sanctions over our head still to come.

It's led to us having a good roster these last 3 years. It's led to Mack being able to get good recruits. It's kept interest in the program. I love what these guys have done and wish they'd get their proper due.

Again, all spot-on and totally agree. When the Bowen stuff came out and Rick was fired, I predicted we'd be holding tryouts for walk-ons in year 3 post-Rick. Instead we had a team ranked #1 in the country at one point in the season in year 3 post-Rick. It all started with the tone that Padgett set in a situation that he didn't ask for. I really wish he had gotten a HC gig somewhere.

Life sometimes just isn’t fair. But with Malik, he will find his success in life and some day realize BB wasn’t the end all.

Scott is just a top notch guy all around. I always loved his point-forward action when he’d come out and handle the ball. He had such a high IQ.

If this guy has any interest in coaching, get him on the staff immediately. Like, right now, why not..

Hate this for him but he was a great leader for the program during real rough times.
