It's amazing people didn't watch this team and see a lot of young guys (Satt's guys) come in and play big roles and just a few changes and another year older and it could be a very good team. Like adding some more beef on the DL, Montgomery back, Clark will really boost our secondary to another level with his potential.I agree; even back in September it was evident that with so many young underclassmen starting, and additional underclassmen filling in the 2nd and 3rd roles ……. 2022 could be special. Now after witnessing significant improvement from 2020 this year, I have optimism that we could challenge for a ACC Championship next year.
I do hope that we find some big NG and DT transfers to fill what I see as our most demanding need, as it appears that we are already expecting some talented DBs to be on campus this spring.
Clark and Montgomery immediately boost you up. 1-2 transfers on the front. That can be a good defense in the ACC.If they don’t fix the defense they are going to be 6-6. They have to find players and make smart coaching decisions i.e bring someone in that comes with players. They have to go big on defense without firing 90 percent of the staff.
A returning 5th year QB that has set all kinds of records? On a team that should return most all it's starters, plus adding 3 of our best players injured? And a 4-star running back in the works to come here now?
Next year is going to be fun. Malik returning deserves our support. If in 2018 you would've told me we'd have a team like this ready to play at the start of 2022, I would've been very happy. The depth is coming along, the defense is miles better, the offensive line is now a good unit, we've replaced the skill players nicely, and we have one of the best QBs in the nation returning next fall. A lot of experience.
Some are stuck on Brohmfield dreams, but this team next year is going to be fun to watch. It's going to be a lot much much better, and honestly this year wasn't bad and terrible, just disappointing.
