Makenli Forrest throws the the weight for Louisville Women's Track and Field and she does it quite well.

Forrest took the gold medal at the ACC Championships with a winning throw of 22.46m (73-8.25). The Ellenwood, Georgia, native maintains a 3.6 career GPA while majoring in exercise science.

Forrest is a six-time member of the Louisville Athletic Director's Honor Roll and a four-time dean's list student. She was named a Dean's Scholar in 2020 and is repeat member of the All-ACC Academic Indoor Track and Field Academic Team.

Forrest, who was also named a 2021 ACC Postgraduate Scholar and voted the ACC Women's Field Performer of the Year, registered a personal-best and Louisville school-record mark of 23.26 meters (76-3.75) to claim the gold medal on the opening day of the 2021 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on March 11 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Forrest's toss shattered the Louisville school record of 22.76m (74-8.25) that was set in 2010 by D'Ana McCarty and Forrest's toss ranked as the top collegiate indoor throw this year.

The phrase "Run, Forrest, Run!" needs to be modified on the UofL campus to "Throw, Forrest, Throw !" when it comes to the accomplishments that Makenli had earned. Most of you remember Emmonnie Henderson, another Louisville Field specialist (2013-18), but I'll offer that you need to learn the name of Makenli Forrest as well, she ranks as one of the best of all time to throw at Louisville.
