LOUISVILLE VS LIPSCOMB GAME THREAD- 6PM ACCNX

A very winnable game for the Cards tonight. An intriguing game really. Lipscomb is a very solid team. They are coming off an 8-point loss at Michigan and played well at Notre Dame early in the season losing by 1-point. They have some very interesting losses though at South Dakota, Alabama A&M and Tennessee St.... 1-5 on the road.
Lipscomb is going to run their stuff. A lot of screens, pick and pops, back cuts, dribble hand-offs and 3s. Cards will need to be very disciplined on defense. Does KP go to a 2-3 / matchup zone to try to limit some of this action? In my opinion, a few weeks ago, this was a loss for the Cards. The spread has moved from -1.5 Cards, to even to -1.5 Lipscomb. This is essentially a pick 'em.

we have too many substitutions. our players get confused when they are coming and going every few minutes.
I've never seen anything like it. It's like they're addicted to bad play. Just two straight incredibly senseless turnovers by Ellis and everyone is pouting again.

It's amazing how It's the same shit. Can't get the loose ball or long rebound and Withers never gets fouled when he drives to the goal.
And Ellis for as much as he does being the only real guard, he commits a bad turnover at the worst time.
It's just the reality of the time and for us old timers it's stuff we thought we would never see.

After the game Volvano asks KP why we don’t pressure the ball more, why do we let the ball handler just throw darts to his team mates? KP’s answer is just like all his other answers. “We talk about that every day. We work on that every day and we’ve been working on it all year.” WTF!! So why isn’t it happening? No one is pressuring the ball! I just don’t believe a word the man is saying at this point. Everything he is asked has that same answer. Enough. What he’s doing isn’t working. Unless we get another freak game like the WKU game, we won’t win again this year.
The football turn around on defense was more player driven than coach driven. Before the change players looked average. After the change players look a lot better. The coaches all said they didn’t make huge changes to scheme the players just were more focused.
There are no guys on this team that hates to lose. If they did they would absorb everything that is being taught. How do kids at this point not understand how to defend a back door? It is basic stuff that they don’t think is important. Turnovers aren’t important. Rebounds aren’t important. Talking on defenses is not important. Basketball isn’t important enough to put down a pizza and snickers bars. All that is fine if you are playing a pick up game.
Team basketball is not important to these guys. We are 2 coaches in with a core group of players that neither coach could motivate and frankly coach. It clear now the roster should have been gutted and next year that is what has to happen.
