LOUISVILLE AT CLEMSON GAME THREAD- 9PM RSN

It's starting to look more and more like it's going to be the worst case won loss record after all the games are over. Right now we're 2 and 15. It just looks weird writing it down.

The apathy with the fans is avoiding having to look at something like 4 and 27 next to Louisville's name.

This KP experiment has been a collasal mistake and it looks like future mistakes are on the horizon. If there ever was a time when fans can say, "Louisville is a football school," it's now.

The sad thing is some fans are trying to rationalize that we are getting better.
Getting better doesn't mean squat when you're still getting beat. We used to lose by 20 now we lose by 10 I guess by definition that's improvement but who really cares when you're still 2-15..

This team is so bad defensively when they turn it over it automatically leads to points. Both make it impossible to sustain comebacks. They will eventually turn it over late then blow a rotation that leads to a big bucket. Happened against Syracuse, Wake and Clemson.

I am not sure this roster is capable of playing good defense. Lands right now can’t defend. Ellis isn’t a great defender. Curry and Hatfield are allergic to defense. JJ gets lost all the time.

They are awful for multiple reasons but the list starts on defense.

Here's my question. Are they even being taught to defend. If CKP is following a "NBA model," I don't think they even think about playing defense. I know this is an exageration but the NBA is not talked about their defense...

Good question. KP played and coaches with some of the best defensive coaches in college and NBA. When he talks defense he sure sounds like he understands it. You also have Nolan Smith that played and coached for/with the best college basketball coach. I find it hard to believe they are teaching good principles.

Some kids just don’t have the athletic ability along with the mental side. Seems like they have more that are mentally lost. It is pick your poison with Hatfield and Curry neither defend the post. If you can’t defend the post good luck.

I have hesitated weighing in with what I am going to say but……
The horrific start is all on on KP. Coaching should get you a few close wins against lesser opponents early in the season. Say those 4 one point losses were wins. Then we would be 6 and 9 (with the chance of maybe using those early games to squeak out one more win).
The fan frustrations would be lessened, attendance at the Yum would be much better and there would be more hope and most would accept a less than .500 season with a more hopeful outlook to next year. Not utilizing time outs, not giving fouls to make opponents have to inbound the ball in a tight game etc are all on the coach.
