Not so fast. All he has to do is call his personal ambassador to his program and then he can pick and choose which AAU stars he wants on his roster.

You have to give WWW a chance. He'll make it right for Pitino Lite (or should that be Pitino wannabe fatty?)

How can you actually talk smack to a team that owns you? I couldn't imagine talking football smack to UL, rule #1 is you need to beat them before talking. we haven't nor have you in basketball.

RC, you don't understand.....as long as they own bragging rights vs the Cardinals...it does not matter if they win the NC and lose to teams like UConn, Wisc or Bobby Morris.....just so they win their super bowl vs UofL and have multiple NBA picks every year....they are all good with that.

They fear lack of success vs Uof L more than losing in the F4 or NC games......Go figure! And they feel that Card fans envy them.....BBN....every mental health providers dream patient.

Losing five out of six years to teams that had a total of one AA between them. The BBN is so large and strong that UL had raised 50 million more over the last four years in basketball alone. They are all talk and have virtually no respect in college ball. While they continue to brag since Cal got here, two other schools have won two titles. You can gloat about pre-season wins, but we stand tied in terms of NCAA matchups on a neutral floors and over the last 35 years we have just as many titles. Duke has won five in that period while UConn has four. UK has a good program, probably top five, but three of their titles 60 years ago came when the NIT was king and the ACC wasn't even a member of the NCAA. North Carolina has a very large edge in matchups with UK also. In term of all time wins, UK counts Lexington YMCA wins and has played in a conference that for 30 years offered virtually no scholarships for basketball. The SEC has had virtually no great coaches while the ACC, for example, has four HOF members still active and six different members who have won national titles. UK is probably the most overrated athletic program in the country. 22 McDonalds players in six years and one title. When you have that many top players you should make the final four every year.

Back to the original OP ..........things are evolving and the Calipari/AAU/WWWes monopoly is no longer "a slam dunk" for UK. It is increasingly evident that Duke has re-emerged as not only a participant in the "one&done" contest ...........they have a far more compelling argument (actual player development, on-the-court coaching, greater conference competition and significantly more attractive academic option) over Kentucky.

Now traditional college basketball powers like UCLA, Arizona, UNC, Indiana, Kansas and some newbies like LSU and Gonzaga are going to be dividing up some of that talent pool that UK had primarily for itself.

Zipp's point is well-made ..........give this process a little more time and the UK experiment will lose its excessive talent advantage over UL. I am not predicting failure for UK, but their domination of #1 recruiting classes will start to fade and if anyone is being objective (UK fans need not apply), they will acknowledge that without an over-riding advantage in both talent and depth .......... Calipari cannot win consistently in tournament play.
