Reports emerged during the weekend that Buzz Williams is expected to leave Virginia Tech for Texas A&M, and Cincinnati Bearcats head coach Mick Cronin likely will be mentioned by many as a candidate to replace Williams with the Hokies.

One reason: Before Whit Babcock became Virginia Tech's director of athletics in January of 2014, he and Cronin worked together at UC for 2 1/2 years.

I don't follow Texas A&M but is it really a much better college basketball job than VT? Or does it come down to they can pay more etc?

Cronin has so underwhelmed at Cincy. Glossy regular seasons but fizzes out in the tournament. Or it seems that’s the perception.
I've always felt those glossy regular season records were more a reflection of poor conference affiliation, hence the perceived tourney flameout. Mick can coach but has difficulty drawing top flight talent to UC.

A move to VaTech would be strictly a money move on his part and I wouldn't blame him a bit. Particularly since UC doesn't want to up his pay. OTOH if UCLA does come calling as rumored, he should seriously give it serious consideration. There is too much talent on the west coast for them to have underperformed as they have. JMO

Cronin doesn’t seem like the Cali type. Cal would have been PERFECT!

Regardless of who the coach is id still like
a home and home with UC

Not me! Piss on Cincy. They don’t deserve games with UofL. Their fanbase sucks and we have enough rivalries where that’s the situation.

It used to be a short hop for me to catch the Cards at UC when we played years ago, but it is far safer for me to travel the extra 80 miles to the Yum! to see them play someone else than to go to Clifton after dark.
