Without a doubt the defense is poorly coached and the offense is to transparent. If the announcers are right and CSS is still calling the plays that explains a lot.
They play slow, not physical, and don’t pursue well to the ball. The scheme sucks and we either don’t play athletically or have athletes. Either way it sucks.
I feel sorry for any of you who thought this was an 8-9 win team. Syracuse looks better than us at every position and on the coaching staff.
Can’t argue with the thread title but you could also throw in along with being poorly prepared by this coaching staff for an opener that they should have known would be a hostile and motivated opponent. Also the fact that we have looked sluggish off the ball and then the next play over committing on defense. Throw in sloppy tackling, bad play calling, bad body language and some really dirty play. Sorry if I missed anything.

I hated to see that too. Dino sees it as well as we do....
The tacking is something that is sort of horrifying; that isn't something that you just "find" with a halftime adjustment. That it was cited by Satterfield as something that would come from a very physical commitment all Summer strikes me as really disconcerting.
More bad play calling on 2nd and 10 after the big run by Evans. We got to mix it up and get Syracuse wondering what play is next. But we just run off tackle again and it's 3rd and 9.
This has been the problem with Satterfield as a offensive play caller since he's been here. Right now, he should have acted like we were two scores down with 5 minutes to go. It was imperative to score getting the ball at the beginning of the half.

And we can still win this game even as pathetic as we have played. Can we hit something downfield on 1st down to loosen the defense of Syracuse for once?

The fear was Brown doesn’t know how to evaluate and develop players. He thought the last 2 years he had a good defense. They are terrible. Not bad they are terrible.

This is a disaster and maybe the worst play calling I have seen on both sides of the ball.

Cut ties. No further evidence needed. Keep the assistants responsible for recruiting. Name one of them interim. No need to see more. Hierd, you are on the clock.
I thought Satterfield was the right guy but it is clear now it didn’t work. This will set the program back 5 more years. No way the recruiting class stays together. No way they win 4-5 games.
We can only hope that the ‘23 class was lured here by the potential NIL income and not any interest in playing under Satterfield. And I can’t really imagine any recruit thinking “I gotta get me some of that Satterfield/Brown coaching magic”.
They were literally coming into the season as a must win they weren’t bad they were terrible in almost every aspect of the game.
