I hope our team, our coaches and our fans remember what a total asshole Stoops made of himself last year when he encouraged their coaches and players to act like morons during warm ups. If I recall, they gave our fans the finger, grabbed their crotches and faced our fans, taunted our players and acted like complete idiots. Even my son-in-law, who is as BBN as they come was embarassed by their players, coaches and chicken shit AD who comes across as a total hypocrite for condoning their actions.

I can assure you, their fans will line up when our team buses arrive and shower them with obscenities and beer cans. You would think the SEC would expect their members to show just hint of class. It won't happen, never has, never will.

Just hope our guys and our coaches stay focused and take care of business. If they do, we have nothing to worry about. After all, it is only Kentucky Football.

I don't know where the Cards are mentally right now, and I just don't know what the Cards are going to do Saturday. It seems the team has lost some edge in recent weeks. It started late in the UVA game, and carried over to the PITT game. There was also the FSU game where a few guys mailed it in.

I'm hoping the leaders of this team will point to what you're describing and help get the guys mentally fired up to play.

When have UK fans ever showered your players with beer cans? Obscenities maybe but to act like there aren't bad fans on both sides that would do something stupid like that just isn't being truthful. I don't think anyone really knows the whole story with the mix-up pregame. I posted what I was told last year from the perspective of the UK players but it was deleted over here so I'll spare you the details

Scat players in sweats, which means theyre injured or redshirting went to midfield
to target UofL starters to see if they could get thrown out.

Even a few blew assistant coaches were in on it.

LPT players across the 50-yard line during warm-ups. That's a fact and a problem on its own...

I personally hope our guys don't give last year's incidents a single thought. I believe they were somewhat thrown off their game early last year by the incident instigated by UK "players" (the guys in sweats) who knew they wouldn't be involved in the game themselves. I say don't allow that kind of BS to take away your focus on the mission at hand..especially from guys who won't be on the field for their team. That's the only way they have to negatively impact our play.

IF it happens it won't have last year's effect. Been there, done that.

It didn't work for them last year, and it will work less this time.

I don't expect trouble. Pre-game anyway.

I highly doubt their will be UK fans line up when your team arrives at Commonwealth, around 9:45a, to cuss the team out and throw beer cans at your players. If so, Its probably just one or two complete morons

September 19, 2009 in Lexington. I was tailgating with some of my oldest friends that are UK fans. We were in the lot on the on the University Drive side of the end zone about 5 parking spots from University Drive. The UL buses pulled in on University and were pelted with beer cans. Not just a few, at least 50. Kentucky fans were lined up giving the buses the finger and yelling obscenities. It was completely classless, unlike anything I had ever experienced at a college football game...including trips to South Florida and Memphis State. Up to that point I had never missed a UK/UL game since the rivalry renewed but that was my last trip to Commonwealth. The UK fans I was with were apologetic and embarrassed.

Bottom line is UK did what they had to do to give themselves a chance to win last year. Its Bobby and UL's fault if that incident in any way threw off the Cards. UK obviously was fired up but still couldn't get the job done. Different year, different situation. I would be surprised if anything like that happened Saturday.

I agree with what you've said. Do YOU think the "incidents" were orchestrated by any UK staff, or just some rogue players who weren't going to see the field, and thought this was a way to help UK's cause? I personally don't think the staff had anything to do with it. I think Coach Stoops is above that.

I would hope Stoops is above that. I would be disappointed if anyone on staff was involved. I think there were a bunch of guys last year that were immature and if you followed any news blotter I'm sure you know who I'm talking about. It didn't surprise me at all that Drew Barker was involved. Ironically for the Cards, DB is slated to be the starting QB this weekend so he might quickly regret his involvement. I'm interested to see if any fireworks carry over but seriously doubt it.

I'm with you. I don't want "retaliation" on anybody's mind. Both teams will have their hands full trying to execute at a high level. That said, I wouldn't be surprised to see some serious trash talking once the game is in hand for whoever wins, but I hope not.

Yeah I'm sure a lot of that is going to occur but there is too much at stake for both teams for it to really get out of control. Louisville is looking to improve its bowl positioning and the Cats are trying to once again salvage something of an ugly second half and make a bowl game. Good luck! Always is fun.

I thought it had already been established that Stoops not only knew about the ploy, but his coaching staff encouraged it. Is that a false statement?
That may be true. Can't find anything concrete right now to confirm it but it wouldn't totally shock me. I honestly thought way too much was made of it. At the end of the day it happens in football. How many teams have gathered at midfield and stomped on an opposing team's logo?

Just because it happens isn't a reason to accept it as no big deal. It's a lack of leadership on display when it happens and I don't care who the coach is. When I see a stupid ploy or a stupid penalty, I blame it on a lack of coaching.

IMO even if Stoops didn't have anything to do with it (which I don't believe for a second), he should have reacted by disciplining the punks who instigated the scrum. He didn't do a thing about it. Just like Petrino didn't do anything to the UofL player a few years back for flipping off the UofK crowd while standing in the tunnel. It was wrong and he should have straightened him out with some old school discipline. Had any of those players played for me, I would have made them run the arena steps until I puked. Kids today get away with way too much crap that has no business being in sports in the first place. Shut your mouth and play. There is no reason to run your mouth. Prove your worth with action, not words.

Just beat them again so they shut up for another year. They certainly won't win in Louisville next year with the team UofL has coming back.

I was there early. Totally classless demonstration by UK. Especially
when they came back on field the second time. Dressed players not
players in sweats were giving the finger and crotch grabbing to fans
in crunch zone. Stoops has yet to admit that this went on. Nor has he
apoligized. His day will come.

Breno giving the bird was Kragthorpe's first year.
You are correct. I misspoke. Kragthorpe let that slide and never said a word about it as far as I can recall. The message is the same. There is no place for that nonsense in the game IMO. I don't care what team or player pulls that crap. It's bush league.

I love how Kommonwealth offers a point so patently false that he posts an evasion of it at the same time. I wonder: did the mods edit his post for sheer stupidity?

For me, I want every Card focused on retaliation, with their play. No knees, Coach!

Yes. I saw what he posted and responded to it. My post to his original post was deleted, and his was modified. No reason to repeat what idiotic post he made since it would just get deleted again.

I totally agree with your point and I definitely don't condone it or don't think it wasn't a big deal. There is no place for it but its become common all over football in rivalry games when emotions run high. I was just illustrating that to some it became bigger then the actual game itself last season. Unfortunately there is way too much leeway with certain players and at times a total lack of accountability. I would have punished those kids who instigated the fight as well.

The bad news for you is that, in a game where UK seemingly has all the motivation and UofL seemingly has none, the memory of the sh!t UK pulled last year is the motivational gift that keeps on giving.

Thanks for that brilliant strategy, Coach Stoops!

Did anyone happen to read the quotes in the paper this morning from the uk player saying how much he hated UL as do most of his teammates..(sorry I still get the CJ...old habits are hard to break!) hoping a repeat of last years antics are not forthcoming.

You guys are completely comical with your assessments of Stoops knowingly allowing an altercation to happen. He has been nothing but a class act and accepting fault for players and coaches failing at their jobs this year. He has done it with complete humility and has not lost his temper in any way. In fact your own coach has made mention of having respect for Stoops and the way he handles his business.
Bobby has never been one to take a knee at the end of a game like this, so that shows respect for the coach in itself.

The bottom line is this.....It's a rivalry game. in 2010, I had food thrown at me and was being heckled by your fans at PJS. It's going to happen. There are ignorant and stupid fans everywhere including at UL and UK. Either man up and deal with it or don't.
If it would have gotten too bad you could have notified the authorities.
And since these bus's get a police escort to and from the stadium, I find it very hard to believe that beer cans were thrown at the bus and no one was arrested. Furthermore if the authorities were there, then I can guarantee that there wasn't a mob of 50 people throwing cans. I could still see a couple of idiots being drunk and not caring about the cops but that would have been it.
