I have to say I wonder about Lamar Jackson. His accuracy hasn't improved much and he's becoming more and more a liability throwing the ball.

It's night and day how much better a QB Mahomes is over Lamar. I think the Ravens are going to start doubting their strategy if Lamar doesn't improve his passing.

I've been defending Lamar against his critics but tonight he's making it very hard for me.

Looking a lot better now. I want so much for Lamar to be praised as a passer. I really believe with his humbleness and determination he will be feared for his arm.

LJ is LJ. He’s a rusher and a passer. He’s just not as great as the long passer. I finally just muted the talking heads. Anymore I just can’t tolerate listening to them, NFL or college.

Ugh.. even Mahomes can throw a pick..

It took some luck or fate or just karma but LJ got em through.

May be a bit premature. Mahomes night and day better? I don’t think so

he was 18/26 w/ two int's, the first of which his receiver slipped. and the onyl throws he usually misses are the deep bombs which he overthrows. he's actually a very good passer compared to the other 32 qb's, maybe 8 better

Mahomes is very special, but Lamar is a unique NFL QB who brings a skill set that no other QB has.

It is seldom profitable to post an opinion during a game, particularly before you have a chance to see the outcome.

Lamar played more than just a significant role in the 4th quarter when he personally snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.

As a passer, Mahomes is much better than Lamar. No QB runs better than Lamar but number 8 still lacks accuracy and decision making of the top passers.

And my opinion was not based on last night's game. I was hoping to see much improvement this season but it looks much the same for LJ. Which of course is a whole lot of awesome.

People love to crap on Lamar. He needs to work on his poise more than anything, staying calm and slowly processing the play. I think this is probably hard for him because he's so overtly talented and quick that he knows he can just run it and get some yards that way and if things really go his way he can take it all the way to the endzone.

Lamar has no offensive weapons. He's on his 4th RB....and through 2 games Hollywood Brown has 12 catches, Sammy Watkins 8 and Duvernay has 1 catch. Thats all the catches by his WRs in 2 games. His leading WRs last year? Hollywood Brown, Willie Snead, Miles Boykin, and Devin Duvernay. His MVP season? Hollywood Brown, Willie Snead, Seth Roberts and Miles Boykin.

GET THIS MAN SOME WEAPONS.

Tom Brady has Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Antonio Brown.
Russ Wilson has DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.
Patrick Mahomes has Tyreke Hill and the freak Travis Kelce.
Ryan Tannehill has AJ Brown and Julio Jones.
Dolphins have Will Fuller, Devante Parker and Jaylen Waddle.
Bengals have Tee Higgins, Jamarr Chase and Tyler Boyd.
Aaron Rodgers has DeVante Adams.
Dak Prescott has CeeDee Lamb and Amari Cooper
Kyler Murray has Deandre Hopkins, Rondale Moore, AJ Green, Christian Kirk
Josh Allen has Stefon Diggs and Cole Beasley
Pittsburg has JuJu Smith-Schuster, Chase Claypool and Deontae Johnson.
Kirk Cousins has Adam Theilen and Justin Jefferson.

Then there's all the QBs that have at least one dependable stud: Terry Maclauren, DJ Moore, Deebo Samuel, Brandin Cooks, Keenan Allen, Calvin Ridley, Jerry Jeudy....

The league is blessed with a TON of amazing WRs and yet Baltimore can't get anyone?

Lamar's accuracy is fine. Its on-par with every other great QB in the league. Lamar completes over 64% of his passes and his YPA is as good or better than all the other "elite" QBs.

Lamars passing is still sporadic, but I think is getting better and better. Then, he makes a throw few can make. Go figure.

I hope this continues because right now, if something happens to cause him to lose a step of speed, he’s in trouble at QB.

Mahomes is not taking a third of the hits LJ is.

His accuracy is not fine, especially down the field. He throws a lot of short passes and that's why his percentage is where it's at. Now I'm a huge Lamar fan and I believe he has what it takes internally to improve but he still misses more throws than someone like Mahomes.

This is another misleading belief. You can find air yards per pass attempt/completion stats.

Over the last two years Lamar has amassed:

3,355 "air yards" that is the total number of yards the ball travelled past the line of scrimmage before its caught. He did this on 507 completions. This means on average the ball traveled 6.62 yards before being caught. His completion percentage over those two years was 65.2%

Notable QBs numbers over that same span:

Russ Wilson - 6.6 67.5%
Tom Brady - 6.5 63.3%
Aaron Rodgers - 5.6 66%
Patrick Mahomes - 6.4 66%

This narrative that Lamar is dinking and dunking his way to being a great QB is wrong. He isn't throwing nearly as much as the elite QBs but when he does throw it he's throwing it at the same success and manner in which all the elite QBs are throwing it.

I disagree with this assessment to some degree. He has weapons, Marquis Brown, Watkins, Andrews, Duvernay. Boyle and Boykin are hurt. Plus we just added 3 RBs of decent caliber to replace 3 quality RBs. Now all we need to do is strengthen the CBs with Jimmy Smith and Peters out.

The Ravens added 3 RBs that were on waivers and were all free agents. I'm not sure I would call that adding decent caliber talent.

Brown is developing into a solid WR and Andrews is a great TE but an aging constantly hurt Sammy Watkins and then a bunch of dudes nobody has never heard of is not exactly surrounding Lamar with the same level of offensive talent as most QBs in the league. What would Lamar do with Tampa's WRs!? What about Arizona? Hell give Lamar a healthy Will Fuller, DeVante Parker and Jaylen Waddle and see what happens. Baltimore's offense weapons ESPECIALLY when compared to the rest of the top teams in the league is severely lacking - that was my only point.

Baltimore’s offense is based on the running game or have you noticed? It’s built for Lamar.

Yeah Watkins is really old, 28 and a Super Bowl champion.

It is built to run and thas why Baltimore keeps losing in the playoffs.

Sammy is only 28 but he's lived a lot in those 28 years. He's on his 4th team and has spent roughly 25% of his career not playing and dealing with injuries. He's fine, he's just nothing but serviceable. This is a guy who's in his 8th season and hasn't even hit 5,000 yards receiving. His average season so far? Miss 4 games, catch 46 passes for around 666 yards and 5 TDs. Again...fine, just a receiver you're touting as a go-to stud.

Here’s some facts for you. Ravens have won a SB right? Two of their top 3 all time receivers are Todd Heap, a TE and Ray Rice, a RB. Andrew’s is currently #12 on that list and Brown is #22. Nowhere did I say Watkins is a stud but he’s definitely above average.

Baltimore won a Superbowl in 2012.

Baltimore's passing offense ranking in 2020: Last 2019: 26th

Regular season passing rankings of the last 6 Super Bowl champs: 2, 5, 8, 3, 4, 14.

To even further the point there have been 2 teams in the last decade do what Baltimore is trying to do: The Broncos in 2015 and the Seahawks in 2013. They both rode absolute elite defenses to Superbowl titles without having a potent passing attack. average yards passing per game in the playoffs for the last 8 winners: 256, 292, 314, 319, 365, 154, 316, 167.

Baltimore's 2012 team finished 15th in passing and 11th in rushing

I'm not saying it can't be done with what Baltimore has but Lamar desperately needs some elite pass catchers. Baltimore's defense isn't good enough to ride to a title and teams are figuring out ways to slow their running game and force them to lean on their passing game and we see the results of that.

2019: #1 (by 51.3 yards/pg over #2)
2020: #1 (by 30.9 yards/pg over #2)
2021: #1 (by 58 yards/pg over #2)

I just think it's pretty cool we've got a high end player at the next level doing things. A lot of Heisman Trophy winners bomb out in the NFL etc, Lamar is a well respected player in the league and he is for sure humble.

Lamar carried the Ravens on this back yesterday for the win. The Ravens RB corps are depleted due to injury. We will likely see Lamar run more this year. Harbaugh is the right coach for Jackson since he is willing to go all-in with the run-dominant style of play.

A Heisman winner and an NFL MVP. He can't pass, though. ;-)

The LJ criticism will be around for ever.
When will you make an honest comment? He won both of those awards for his running. He didn't win them with his passing numbers. You know this.

Again, I think he's amazing and he has had his awesome moments throwing the ball, but in my opinion he still needs to improve his accuracy and decision making. I believe he will but in the meantime, his running will be the big play that sets him apart. Is that enough to win the super bowl?

We will eventually see.

He’s 2 years younger than Mahomes, younger than Prescott, mayfield and same age as Murray. So Lamar can’t get better or improve? Sure he can but look what he has already accomplished. There should not be any buts…

I, much like Heisman and NFL MVP voters, know Lamar is more than his legs and running ability. Plus, when a player wins those awards, critics look foolish. Can Lamar improve? Yes. So can all NFL players.

In Tucker We Trust! Go Ravens!
Exactly! But I would rather they not put him in that situation again. The football gods have put a lot of iffy situations on the Ravens so far. I just hope LJ vs TB is a back and forth game. One for the ages!
