KP with very interesting revelations

Did it occur to you that KP a is being transparent? Anyone remotely associated with College Basketball could predict the opposing coaches reminding recruits of what UL is facing with NCAA.

Frankly, I am not surprised with the difficulty that we are witnessing with KP a recruiting this early.

He mentions being betrayed by people he's known for 30-40 years. He's been at Louisville, the NBA, Oregon, and UK. I believe after all the "family" and "best of both worlds" talk, he is referring mainly to Nike. I could be wrong but looking at what he said that makes sense.

Oh boy here come the excuses come on Kenny Payne your predecessor was able to recruit under the same cloud
Not even the same cloud. Same storm maybe but the cloud KP was under this year is the announced sanctions cloud.

It takes only common sense for one to surmise that transfers would prefer the school they choose is eligible for the big dance? When Mack was here, he could say that the decision was still years away. Not KP.

Another thing I don't get with people fretting recruiting this year is what exactly could KP do or say to convince transfers to come here anyway? March Madness is overrated? Who wants to play for the ACC championship anyway?

I can't believe any Cards fan actually expected KP to bring in the top level transfers for this upcoming season. He was also well past the HS recruiting period when he was hired. In fact, he was very successful retaining the players already here.

Everyone should know that it's the announcement of what the sanctions are and the results on the floor of his first season that will determine his true ability to recruit.

The term “ Late to the table “ has to apply a bit here. Recruiting is founded in relationships that need to be nurtured. You can’t just snap your fingers after showing up in the Spring and expect recruits to jump to attention. It just doesn’t work that way…for anybody.
I think it’s been said on this board already, the job he’s done keeping guys from bolting has been commendable.
Let’s just play with who we got,get thru all the crap and think a little bit more long term.

^^^this. 100%. It's really not that complicated.

Nearly all the 2022-23 recruits were signed (not verbal) and therefore off the table when KP came on board. Did people expect those signed recruits to ask their universities to let them out of the LOI and come play for KP (and the universities to happily tear up those LOI's) just because Kenny Payne won those games?

The 2023-24 recruits, it is early and they are waiting to see what happens with the AIRP or whatever it's called because we should have that decision in the next few months.

It's really not that complicated.

Then we should have signed a head coach that already had head coach experience that could have brought players that he'd already been working on easy fix not hire somebody no experience built up as a great recruiter although now will you give any excuses for not recruiting who knows

I don’t think his comments were a pity party or him trying to say he’s having trouble recruiting. I think it was more literal (ie: “people I’ve had long standing relationships with are talking bs and that’s unfortunate”). He was talking to a men’s spirituality group so I think it’s safe to say his comments transcended basketball and recruiting.

Respectfully, nearly all recruits were already signed when KP came on board. I'm really not sure what you expected.

Assuming the IARP decision is no worse than a post-season band for the 2022-23 season, then recruiting should pick up considerably for that 2023-24 season - KP's first as the head coach at Louisville.

This worries me but I am willing to give him some time before making judgment as a Louisville fan I am hoping for the best. All those KP supporters used KP’s recruiting abilities as the reason to hire him even though he lacked Head coaching experience. I am hoping he not a total failure and we end up like Indiana basketball and Nebraska and Florida State football a has been.

When Mack quit, no one reasonably expected UofL to hire a coach who would have a great first season. Half the roster was predicted to be gone and HS recruiting was way behind.

All of the big names that were out there would have had the same recruiting results as KP. The same problems existed with the transfer portal. Players were not going to gamble on going to Louisville, regardless of who's the coach.

KP at least got a couple players to stay with the program that were eyeing leaving and none of those who did leave would have stayed if another coach was hired.

This first season is what it is. It's what KP does when he has a entire year to recruit that will tell the tale.

The players that left didn’t leave because of our situation they left because they were told to leave.? KP wanted only certain players from the current roster the others were given their walking papers.

one thing i love under KP is the U of L basketball twitter page. check it out.
it's very awesome with great clips and music. cool video of the players getting their jerseys today.

i hope somebody will make a good U of L mens basketballl youtube page. not a lot of quality youtube videos of our basketball program.
