Agreed CF ……. I continue to be amazed at CCM’s ability to navigate so well in recruiting, despite the obvious NCAA cloud that surrounds our basketball program.

It's a good sign. Love getting local players to stay home. I typically wait until I see them in the jersey before getting too excited about it. I know every player situation is different. And with the landscape changing I don't really know how to evaluate recruiting anyway. But yeah, a local kid high in rankings staying home is good.

I really like this and I hope it continues get as many good local kids as possible in all sports. Some of our best year in both football and basketball we’re when we had the good local recruits mixed in with good recruits from around the country.

If Satterfield can recapture the local HS football talent, it could be a huge boost to our talent pool.

Smart to temper your excitement with this one. He's a Class of 2023 commitment. Plenty of time for a change of heart or change of circumstances within the UofL basketball program.

Assuming the NCAA is going to throw the book at UofL, why would a top recruit stay committed? Maybe he will but I don't see the bad news ending anytime soon.

Now I hope I'm wrong and we don't get multiple year tournament bans, but I don't see anything to think otherwise.

NIL changes this somewhat … if I’m an elite D1 talent, I care less about missing the NCAA tournament in any particular season than I do what NIL deals I can sign while I’m at each different school I am considering.

Of course, you may be thinking that we’re getting a multi-year ban, but I just cannot see that. I could see the NCAA banning us from the tournament for one year, but we shouldn’t be receiving more than that because of the preemptive (and pretty much unprecedented steps) we took in firing Pitino and Jurich.

Logic and reasoning my dear pushupman. Haven't seen any of that with the NCAA when it comes to UofL.

Call me cynical but I can see the NCAA wanting to show some sterness in the face of their dwindling power. Oh, they have UofL they can use for this purpose. The program has a bad reputation with most everyone who follows the sport.

No, I will be shocked if the book is not thrown at Louisville. No death penalty but a two year ban is all but guaranteed.

I really hope I'm wrong.

Here’s why I think not … we essentially already banned ourselves for the FBI scandal by proactively firing Pitino and replacing him with interim HC Dave Padgett. You may recall that we did not make the NCAA tournament in 2017-18…. I am certain our admin has repeatedly stressed that point at every turn, in addition to submitting all of the costs associated with our decision to be proactive regarding Jurich and Pitino, including Jurich’s buyout and lawyer’s fees resulting from firing Jurich and Pitino.

Now on top of that, UofL will be pointing out that they self-imposed a huge fine and a multi-game suspension for Coach Mack for what are at most secondary violations, and that they did so because they recognized that committing those violations while on probation increases their severity. What it has cost UofL to be proactive should be easy for UofL to document.

UofL basketball has certainly made mistakes, but it has also been a good citizen in reporting these missteps. The only time they didn’t was when these secondary violations occurred, but our admin was once again proactive in punishing our head coach when they learned about the violations.

The NCAA should have confidence that the current UofL administration is committed to playing by the NCAA’s rules based on its responses to both the FBI scandal and the latest minor violations.

Contrary to most fans’ negative responses to the latest allegations being added to our NoA, I actually see that as a good thing. It means that we will get all of this over with sooner rather than having to wait and wonder whether we will receive another NoA for the minor violations after the FBI scandal is completed.

I cannot see a multi-year ban for this. Had we basically done like all of the other schools caught up in the FBI scandal and said “FU, move along, nothing to see here.” Then yes, we’d probably deserve a multi-year ban.
