Jaylin Brown Decommits

The game (recruiting) has changed dramatically; it is all about bidding war. Watch the number of D1 coaches retiring, as those with self respect find it difficult to play this game. Not sure where this will end, but it is not a sustainable model long term.

This is why I've become apathetic with college sports. You don't know who's going to be on your team, even when they commit, they may change their mind at any time.

Why get excited about any commitment? Why stay excited about players currently on the team? I mean Issac Brown is a star true freshman playing at the school he chose, so why would he ever consider leaving? Not saying he will, but he's going to be tempted.

If that happens, I'm done and won't spend another cent on college sports as long as this continues.

Hopefully this means Brown and Watson have made it clear they're not going anywhere else?
I don't think that's the case. Now maybe he looked at the roster and saw that they are FR and made his own conclusion. Injuries happen, just look at Turner and Isaac Brown. Never know when its next man up. I don't understand kids who don't want to compete for playing time, well I do but that usually says a lot about their character.

Agreed! And there is going to be massive competition anywhere he goes unless he drops down a significant level and then you are sacrificing $$ which is what all this is about!

Competition is one thing when the two dudes you're competing with were just good prospects, but it's another thing when one becomes an All conference player and the other looks like he may be just as good.

Everyone is surprised how good Brown has been. It took three to four games before Brohm finally made him the #1 back. He looks like a 1st team conference player and will be going into next season.

No one saw Watson doing the same thing after Brown was injured. He is so good we may lose him because he's a #1 back himself.

So this recruit realized he won't see the field much next season in a Cards uniform and decommited.

I agree with what you are saying but let's say Watson and Turner do the same thing... Its the world we now live in.

Hard to up that NIL deal when you can’t show your your stuff on the field.

He’ll go lower in class (G5) with a “good” deal, play and build his resume, then wait for us or somebody else to make a much better offer.

Pro ball Free Agent. Plain and simple.

Only losers are us fans. And many grow weary.

It is almost an impossible situation for coaches. They have done exactly what they said if you can play as a freshman they will play you. They have and a lot. If it is simply $$$ then good luck anyone can outbid you if they want someone bad enough. Hopefully both Brown and Watson see the advantage of being in this offense. I love the sets where they have both in at same time. That can create really bad matchups.

If I am I good high school player I am signing in the late period. Leverage the market. If I am a middle of the road high school player where do I sign.

Can’t worry about freshman because 90 percents won’t see the field. Comes down to good evaluations and they clearly nailed the evaluations on Brown and Watson.

Watson and Brown between the 2, one should be on the field 96% of plays. They both stand out and its not close!

Be ready to stand by your statement because it's a very good possibility they go in the portal to test the waters to see what their value is. Once they do that all bets are off that we can outbid some of these other schools.

It sucks, but it's today's college sports and I do not like it...

I'm pretty much there already anyway. It's just I've been a Cards supporter and fan for decades. It's hard to imagine me ignoring this part of the sports year.

However, I'm old enough to know that nothing lasts forever and if in my later years I decide to watch the History Channel all fall and winter instead of sports, I won't be missing much.

Yeah man I hear ya, with all the turmoil here the past few years along with NIL and the portal it's not what I grew up with for sure.. Maybe we will feel different if the basketball team can have a good season and the football team can finally beat ky. Definitely can't hurt anything.

Regrettably, some of the SEC favorites who are struggling, like Alabama, LSU, and A&M, will result in some huge check books opening up and raising the bidding war for kids like Watson and Brown.

My biggest wish is for this thing to devour itself.

But it won’t.

Money always wins.

Only thing the fans can do is decide how, and where, we want to spend ours.

And to think…..this thing started to give a kid the opportunity to get an education to make a good living.

Now it’s already a good paying job with education optional.

Things change
