We stink. Outscored 32-6 in the second half by Georgia Tech? We’re sloppy, undisciplined and an overall pile of crap. Good luck recruiting with this mess. We’ve totally regressed in year two. Unbelievably disappointing.

Bad teams will find ways to lose games in a lot of ways. It happens. It felt like Kragthorpe teams invented ways to lose. Fair catch vs UCONN?

I dunno there are so many holes on this roster a football rebuild is typically much more difficult than other sports due to the need to have so many bodies contribute. I totally just made this up but it sounds kinda interesting so I'm going with it. I'm surprised the QB hasn't missed a game yet behind this offensive line.

The offensive line has definitely regressed, but that is understandable when you lose the #11 pick in the draft. There are no Mekhi Becton’s completely dominating everyone he lines up against and forcing defenses to play outside their lanes just to make a tackle.

This offense still has that big play capability through the air, but unfortunately last night Hurricane Delta made the deep ball and even the intermediate route throws much more inaccurate. There was no better indication of that than the very first pass to tight end Ean Pfeifer, a certain touchdown to a normally reliable receiver that was just dropped.

Anyone who defends this is a loser.
Hard to defend the lack of execution last night but I’d say a better definition of a loser is somebody that constantly whines and rags on his team when they’re down.

I could be wrong but I don’t remember seeing your posts on here last year when we’re enjoying the biggest turnaround season in college football and winning a bowl game.

Addiction to misery is a thing apparently.

Well said

Full disclosure could not watch entire game. Family thing came up but I did see enough.

I still place the blame on Petrino. When you take an objective look at our roster we have few players specifically Jr' Sr., other Power 5 programs chased - offered.

Admittedly, it appeared some guys quit but I attribute that to the players not the current coaching staff. I.e., Goldwire appeared to have a solid game but for every play he went hard, he took two "off".

I need to watch the entire game and look at the stat sheet / parcipitation chart / for a better take.

Nice work here. I have supported Louisville football through thick and thin. If you want to be a fan boy have at it. You’re in the right space. Did you play a sport or are you just a voyeur?

The consensus is, the team is not good. Many threads around here reflect posters that predict the team will be losing the rest of the games on the schedule. It was apparent prior to the latest evidence submitted last night - this team is not good.

Not sure how this is the right space for a fan boy when nobody has made an argument to suggest this team is good, or okay. The team is bad everyone agrees. There is no argument. There is no debate. There is no fanboy.

Nope and no room to point out the negative in your fan boy world. Sorry I crushed your delicate spirit. Admire your sensibilities

I can’t speak to his sports experience but I played four years of college football so I feel somewhat confident in assessing things. We have some issues with players not understanding the scheme and that’s on the coaches. But the much bigger issue is a lack of talent. We simply cannot make the plays required to field an effective defense regardless of who is coaching. we have holes at every level of the defense and we cannot turn the ball over 3 times and expect this defense to hold serve. It is what it is.

I’m not bailing on my favorite team I am too much of a homer. My only complaint in regards to our recruiting is there is no Trinity kids in the class. Trinity is ranked in the top 10 nationally and they have a lot of talent on this team. I look at our recruiting and we have a good class coming in next year. Petrino really damaged us and I don’t know what was behind it.
Coach Satterfield and staff need more than a year to rebuild this program. This is really a crazy season with teams like LSU and Alabama struggling against lesser opponents. I also think we had unexpected success last year so teams aren’t overlooking us this year. As a homer I am hoping for a better 2nd half to the season.

Trinity doesn’t have any high major P5 prospects. The top two players are committed to Cincy and App State

That don’t fly when the other team is playing under the same conditions unless you think it was raining harder when we had the ball. Their QB supposedly had interception issues but we couldn’t put any pressure on him.

Have you seen Trinity play they are about the same size as Louisville. They are well coached in the fundamentals of football like how to tackle. They have 300 lb lineman, 6’4” 220 pound defensive backs and their tight ends are the same size as Louisville’s. Don’t tell me they don’t have talented players.

Yes I have seen Trinity play. They are extremely talented and the majority of their defense will play on Saturdays. However they don’t have any major P5 guys according to recruiting projections.

If THS has that many great players why isn’t Saban, Swinney and the like in town all the time?

Maybe they are as I don’t follow THS but I’m pretty sure somebody on this board would know if they were.

You tell me, where have all of these THS players gone after HS? Mostly OVC and such.

I’m not knocking these kids. They are GOOD, disciplined, hard working football players.

But if we can’t win with kids from FLA, GA, and Bama that other P5s are after, we can’t win with “most”THS players.

Most these kids go to OVC schools really? All 3 of the Brohm brothers, Caldwell Garner, Reggie Bohnafon, James Quick, Alex Kupper and his brother, Isaac Martin, Will Stein just to name few that went to Louisville. Then you had players that went to Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia Tech, Notre Dame, Purdue, Florida, etc. most of these players go to OVC schools right.

Our best years were when we had top local kids mixed into our roster mainly from Trinity and Male and some from St.X. I was wondering what Trinity game did you go to they’er only allowing 1000 per game and family members go first?

I watched the St. X - Trinity game online

I understand completely that it was raining on both sides of the ball. Their QB had even more problems with lack of accuracy - he was just 11 of 21. Tech just didn’t need to rely on his accuracy, because they won the turnover margin 3-0. Louisville was the team with the massive advantage at wide receiver, so to have any chance to overcome that turnover margin, we needed to be able to hit some of those deep and intermediate routes.

Where this team is struggling offensively this year is that our opponents do not have to over pursue to cut off the runs to Becton’s side, making them vulnerable to those huge cutback runs. We are much easier to defend in the running game.

Not a Trinity fan but I have a relative playing for them and saw them play Ballard this past Friday. I know I’ll miss one or two but this season’s team has a kid committed to Cincinnati, one going to Akron and another going to Appalachian State. They’re be a few more getting spots too but probably not big time schools.

Trinity’s success is built on rosters with huge numbers and therefore great depth, a huge coaching staff, nice facilities, etc. Recruiting is a whole other topic but it’s my opinion it goes on in a big way over there. They have all the advantages that they built over the years. Therefore, the trophy case continues to grow.

It also has to do with their workout routines meaning weight training and practice routines. Unfortunately we live in a state where the high school athletic association is ran like a socialist government. Restricting athletes from practicing all year round like most of the Southern states.

They instituted Spring practices many years ago.

We are not going to compete in the ACC relying on local kids. Sure, there are exceptions. UK has hit Ohio hard especially the Youngstown area. [ Where Marrow is from]. Also got Snell from the Columbus area and a few other players. In the trenches they have done well, recruiting Ohio.

The reality is, few Power 5 players come out of Kentucky every year. Look no further than Kash Daniel. Yea he had a " decent "college career but the former 5 star went undrafted. Many more examples.

I am not saying Ohio is the answer but I can say relying on local kids is not.

Actually I played basketball and football through High School here in Louisville and it’s pretty telling that you have to go to the “fanboy” comment.

Not sure what your voyeur comment is but it’s kind of creepy for a someone who cries all the time.

You are certainly no Roman Oben and I would have not you wanted playing on my side of the ball.

Nobody said rely on local kids for bulk of your roster but let’s keep the good local kids in Louisville. Our best teams were when we had the best local kids on the team with the bulk of our roster coming from Florida.
The KHSAA did away with spring practice a long time ago. They said it gave the Catholic schools an unfair advantage over the public schools. This is where the socialism aspect of the KHSAA comes in. Instead of doing something to make everybody better they doing something to make everybody equally poorer.

That’s not true. KHSAA allows spring practice. It got cancelled in 2020 due to Covid.
