(In part, from Eric Crawford of WDRB...)

The 18 minutes that Spalding played, we outscored Eastern Michigan by 41 points.

The 22 minutes he didn't play, we WERE OUTSCORED by 8 points.

No further stats analysis needed to draw a conclusion from those numbers...

I've been really impressed with Spalding. He is very quick and talented and the skies the limit for him.

Coach did admit that he wanted to work on some things during the game. He said that if they stayed in the zone they probably would have only had 4 blow bys but he wanted to work on their man and their switches because they were a dribble drive team and they had like 14. I am not sure if Spalding was in or not during those times or not but this tells me that we could have beaten them by more if we wanted.

Spalding is oozing potential though.

The kid is a stud player. It's easy to see. I hope we get 2 years out of him before he bolts to the NBA.

We refer to him as our next Pervis. Ray is going to be loved.

I love the +/- data it can be very telling.

Ray has very nice hands. Really, I'm blown away with how good he's looked.

I've not been a UL fan as long as probably most on this board, (15 years) and I came into this season really down on this team and really just sort of down on basketball in general because of the scandal. This team has pleasantly surprised me and a lot of that has to do with Ray Spalding.

Very few Freshman have came in and impressed me more than Ray Spalding has during the Pitino era. Samardo, Chane, Sosa, etc...all had good Freshman years and put up nice stats but all had their issues physically and mentally and none really had that "next level" ability or build. Ray Spalding is built for the NBA, he's long, athletic and is only scratching the surface of his potential.

We'll be lucky to get Ray for 2 more years....but he's going to be one of those guys that everyone brings up when fans are talking about building the best team of the last 20 years. He's going to be really good for us.
