In what can only be termed as a shocking reversal, the Miami Dolphins have re-signed wide receiver DeVante Parker to a two-year, $13 million contract according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
This comes after Dolphins beat writers have been declaring for months that Parker was sure to be cut rather than be paid his fifth-year option in 2019. Clearly to new coaching staff values his potential more than the old regime and is willing to give him a clean slate in Miami. The No.14-overall pick in the 2015 draft out of Louisville, Parker has been a chronic and oft-injured underachiever in his four-year Dolphins career and was virtually phased out of the offense even when healthy in 2018. But he just turned 26 years old last month and has mouthwatering size.
Parker was scheduled to make $9.387 on his fifth-year option but that money was guaranteed for injury only. This new deal likely lowers that number with incentives to make up the difference.
