This for you guys to kick around.

Just outside vision....I don't believe the Cardinal fan base was as upset over a bad season due to the Covid crisis.
I think it was more the dalliance with South Carolina and a really poor interview from Satterfield after that stuck in a lot of craws.
How important is a bounce back season and how big? 5 wins? 6? Higher?

Most UK fans have dreams of a 9 win season. Most are going to be satisfied well enough with 7, especially given what we know are huge question marks.

As a UK Fan since the 70s, that's a big change in expectation.

What I have seen is that a bad second year is often a portent to worse years. It was Coopers’ second year that got him fired, not the 1 - 10 season. Its been a long time, but I remember after he went 7-4 his first year, sports talk callers were worried about how we would keep him. After beating, pretty soundly Kentucky and Michigan State, our eyes were getting starry, then that season fell apart and all momentum and confidence was lost. He who shall not be named, after beating a Ranked South Florida (yes overrated) proceeded to throw the season away by having Cantthrow (sorry Cantwell) throw an ill advise pass in the rain and the U Conn player ran it back (does that seem familiar Bobby?). Granted they lost to Syracuse the next week, but maybe the team has confidence more going into Syracuse at 6-1. It went down from there. John L’s second season was slightly disappointing because we all had hope Chris Redman would win the Heisman, but the defense was still poor. But lo and behold a young Dave Ragone wins 9 games the next year. So to avoid Coop and HWSNBN, we need to go at least 6-6, preferrably 7-5 this year. Actually with our offensive and defensive line depth, I am quietly optimistic. It’s about building momentum. We will have a smallish Senior class (coupled with some 5 year juniors), so we need to build confidence, winning attitude, and recruiting momentum for 2023

we are a diverse group over here...some fan bases can be homogenized into cesspool like characteristics that are almost predicated on lack of judgment. UK fans are really good examples of a homogenized group with highly predictable sub standard behaviors and reasoning skills. I say this only as an example, nothing personal.

Having said that, the fan base here probably has a wide range of opinions that are reflective of various perspectives and unique values...personally, I have low expectations for this season with high hopes...based primarily on a fear that our QB is injury prone and has shown little progression. I love Cunningham, he gives it everything and he's our best option (likely); but with a loss of serious skill in the backfield and perimeter I have concerns. Our D should be better, so it may be a wash in the W/L column, but if our O has a good year (and it could, that's the beauty of college) it could be a pleasant surprise. Happy with 6, not concerned if it's less. CSS is still building.

Very insightful wisdom “wreckcard”!

My answer to BillOliver …… I thought hiring CSS was most judicious and welcomed event at the time Vince announced his choice. However, Scott’s decision to pursue the South Carolina job was like a self-induced “stab in the chest”; it missed his (UL’s heart) heart, but the chest wound is going to take a while to heal, if it ever does. The current recruiting is the first real evidence of consequences that follow a football program after a Head Coach has a public display of weakness at his respective school. It does not have to be fatal, but it could be for Satterfield.

Agree with this 100%. Hopefully this won’t be a death nail for CCS. Upset a couple of programs this year including your in state rival would help many feel better about his “self-induced stab to the chest”.

There will always be some fans who can't let go of your coach interviewing for the South Carolina job. He needs to win games this season or it will only get worse.

Some fans think we are a year away from competing with Clemson
Some fans think Scott is as bad as Cooper and Krag

Very diverse group here. The sky is falling or it's raining gold, no in-between lol
