Even with the Cards up 11, its all for naught.

The team is playing on emotions.
Good when theyre up. Flat when theyre close or behind.

Im melancholy about the remaining games.
Yes the ACC Title was up for grabs, however the ban is just to great.

I'll never accept Ramsey and Jurich instituting a ban with 9 games left.

Don't post until next year since you have given up.
Given up on what? The regular season title is gone. All that's left is to play out the schedule and try not to go down in flames. It's all about pride now and if the losses keep coming it can get pretty ugly. Remember these teams were playing have something to play for. They need the wins more than we do.

We will never know how different it may have been without the ban. I love Cards basketball as much as any fan. I have been watching them since the 1980 title team, which shows my age. But, I as well will be relieved once we play that last game. It's just too painful right now. It would have been better to deal with if we could have won these games, but losing them only frustrates me more.

I will still watch each game and pull for them to win. I will always do that.

It does have a "who cares" feel about it. I was pissed as usual failing apart but it doesn't matter in big scheme any more. Just sucks!!

Smith,

I do get what you're saying. Once they lost it was easy for me to say "so what" but it does matter for the development of snider if he wants to be a good PG or Mahmoud if he wants to learn how to defend the pick and roll or JJ/Spaulding to become more physical down low. Otherwise these games do mean nothing..

We didn't lose because of the ban. We lost because we are still too young to know how to close out good teams on the road.

Theyre not playing for anything and it shows. Cant you see that ?!!!!!!!!

Also the offense is to limited in my opinion. Add those and ND fighting for
their NCAAT lives and its no shock they lost.
I guarantee if the Cards were tourney bound they wouldn't have loss today.

What another super bowl game? We were up 53-42 with 14 minutes to play. Only score 3 points in the last 6 1/2 minutes. They can't close out games. They didn't decide with 14 minutes to go, well we don't have anything to play, let's just lay down. Cards are 4-7 in south bend. It's hard to win there regardless.

These guys are human and its natural with the bad news hanging over their heads to Get down when things don't go right. Heck even Rick seems to be taking it easy on our guys when they mess up which I can understand considering the punch in the gut they just received.

Beat Duke at home and Georgia Tech on Senior night and I'll be thrilled as any of us can be.

I think it is important for us to finish strong and not only for player development and team chemistry. I think the stronger we finish the more the self imposed ban looks like a bigger penalty. Remember when Syracuse imposed a self ban and they were having a crappy year and everyone wanted a longer penalty on them.

I have to agree. I didn't really care that we lost. This ban should have started next year when players could have decided if they wanted to play through it or not. I would like to see a clean start...from top (Ramsey) down to Pitino and all his coaches. Can we bring Crum back.

At this It is really hard to get upset or excited about this year. It is a very difficult situation for the players, coaches, and fans. Each individual or group is going to handle this situation differently. I personally don't care one way or another. That doesn't mean I don't watch or go to games. I just take the game at its face value, they either won or lost. A lost or win doesn't impact rankings, seeding, or recruiting. A loss or win doesn't mean they will or won't advance far in either tournament. A loss or win doesn't mean they will be better or worse next year. As my wife as tells me "it is just a game"

To be honest why would anyone get too excited about next year? Until the investigation is done who knows what is going to happen with the roster and coach.

All fans can do is support the team.

I think Ramsey and smrt are to blame for this one. How could you be in the right frame of mind after what they did when you know you're innocent.

This is what you get when, deep down, our kids know that they have nothing to look forward to this year. I'm not blaming them either, I feel different about our last two games than I normally would.

How in the world is Chuck Smrt to blame? That's crazy - the guy is a super respected former head of NCAA enforcement who is being paid a lot of money by the university to find out what happened and, based upon his expertise, advise them on how to mitigate the situation in the best way possible for UofL. That's what he's done and, that's all that's he's done.

Secondly, as someone else said, if not playing in the NCAA is the worst thing that happens to DL & TL, they'll have pretty good lives. If they want to play and be successful in pro ball, there will be things that they will have to deal with and they will have to not let it affect their frame of mind. It sucks for them but, they seem to be strong kids and this adversity will make them stronger.

100% agree with Kerry. Normally a loss ruins my day or even weekend because I hate seeing the Cards lose so much. Now, knowing there is no post season, I have no emotion even while they're playing.

This promising year now sucks no matter how the rest of the regular season plays out. There's nothing left to play for other than self pride and to compete. Since I don't actually play and compete, there is no pride.

With the few remaining games left, you can tell some of the guys are forsaking team ball and working on their NBA resume. That means concentrating on offense and not defense. Trey Lewis is in desperation mode now since he's been struggling to score the second half of this season. Nanu pouts and whines when a foul is called on him. It's obvious why he's foul-prone. It's because he's lazy about moving his feet into position then try to reach in when he's out of position on his man. Lee had some very obvious missed defensive rotation last night resulting in open 3's. There was no inside outside ball movement the last 6-7 minutes of the game and our offense shut down completely. There were a lot of driving to the basket with rushed shots or turning the ball over with out-of-control dribbling in traffic. When you turn the ball over, a good team have a high chance to score on a transition basket the other end.

I feel like playing a regular season knowing there won't be a post season would be an extremely difficult task. Can you imagine going to work knowing you won't get paid? Taking a girl to dinner and a movie knowing you aren't getting invited into the house? I don't think your guys have given up and that says a lot about their character.

I don't think anyone has given up either, we played a good team at their place and lost a close game. Giving up would have been us getting blown out by 20 points.

Kozmas,

Sounds like some fans have given up. Talk about innocent players. Why is it fair to give up on Mitchell, Spaulding, Mahmoud, Snider?

It's not a question of giving up. Nobody has given up especially the players and that's a credit to them since there is nothing but competitive pride to play for. I respect the kids for the way they've handled this situation. They've handled it better than the adults who were in charge. That much I'm sure of.

I agree with you except for the last point. If you don't like this feeling for 9 games, imagine a whole year of it!

This ncaa still could add another year.
Id rather know ahead of time, than have the rug pulled out from under you
at the last minute.

Even with the news from Smrt, you take time and review your options.
The ncaa is taking their sweet time investigating.

I didn't understand this either initially, but Jay Bilas spoke about it Mike and Mike and I'll trust his knowledge and view point as much or more than anyone's when it comes to NCAA and college hoops. He completely agrees w/the decision to self impose the ban this season and said that according to NCAA we basically had no option once we uncovered violations. According to him, failure to self impose only makes the penalties from the NCAA more severe. So if the penalty would typically be a 1 season ban and we chose to not self impose, then the NCAA would up the ante' to perhaps 2 seasons, or 1 season plus loss of scholarships etc. once they completed.

He said we did the right thing and we basically had no choice to act or we would really get our asses handed to us later......It's just how the $hitty NCAA works.

Like you I'm frustrated about the timing and wonder if this couldn't have been decided before now? But I think this penalty was the best of only bad options once we discovered the violation(s).

Thank you Zinadine. Seems like some of our fans think we can pick and choose what our penalties should be. Once they uncovered an infraction we needed to respond in an appropriate manner.

The truth or fallacy of this argument will come out when the NCAA deals with UNC which is beginning to look like it might not be in our lifetime. Has UNC self-imposed anything?

I'm totally pissed cause with all these pro u of L media outlets , boosters inside folks and we haven't heard not one leak as what they know or might have, to made that self ban. But another fanbase seems too get little bits of news before the pro u of l folks. something is just not right with this situation on any level.

To my understanding they have not self imposed anything. But I honestly don't know enough about their case and the investigation and if the school has actually found any violations at this point. We know what the allegations are, but has the school actually admitted violations or are the still investigating what's been alleged? If it's the latter, then that would be the difference, according to what Jay Bilas was saying.

Speaking of UNC, I heard CL Brown of ESPN and formerly of the CJ, who also happens to be a UNC alum speak about UNC. He said that he really hadn't heard much about where they were in the investigation but he has heard that it seems that the real "hot spots" for the allegations are women's basketball and football. His understanding is that it's starting to sound like men's basketball would get a "slap on the wrist" if anything.

North Carolina found violations, and then once they realized they would have one of the better teams in the country they conveniently found more violations to push back the investigation until the post season.

Basically they did the exact opposite as Louisville and hopefully they are punished accordingly. North Carolina has spent millions to make this thing go away.

If UNC mens basketball got a slap on the wrist.... I hope the NCAA is ready for a crap storm from the media .. (other than ESPN which is ran by a UNC alum)

I don't get it. You post some nasty, disgusting stuff about UofL on the LPT board, yet you come here trying to act friendly. Go and slobber over Matty Bangs
But-but-but, he's just a jokester, joking about everything. You need to disregard all of those things that he posts, he's really a great guy and just wants to have an honest conversation and be our friends.

We should welcome him and treat him like a king here. o_O

No one's on edge, I just call it like I see it. Less interesting is why you feel the need to be here - given that we've already diagnosed that. Run along now and tell your raftards buddies about your latest experience here. At least you have that - until the mods ban you...
