If you're wondering why 5*'s are hard to get here look at VJ King.

King and Adel will share minutes this year early, and I think we might even see them together on the floor in the future. This is the time of year Pitino does his lineup experimenting. King is a silky smooth player, but he's also a freshman making freshman mistakes on defense. IF he listens to coach, he'll get more clock.

Winning is greater than playing a 5 star, just because he's a 5 star.
If he beats out Adel in practice, he starts.

UNC had their sixth man go #2 overall in the 2005 NBA draft.

I want VJ to be the best on the team, and get 30-35 MPG.
However my wishing wont get it done. Its all up to VJ.

VJ has already worked himself into substantial minutes. I noted yesterday his shots were a little off (probably fatigue). This tourney is a survival contest, and our top ten are getting a lot of minutes.

Actually CRP said early in the season he was going to play less match up zone this year. His match up zones are difficult to learn which is why freshman typically have issues learning it. Apparently though CRP has gone back to it which gave Wichita state fits.

They said on the radio he doesn't have much choice because of the way the big guys are racking up fouls.

We all know the line is drawn in the sand. But just when you think you've got Rick figured out, he does something to make sure you haven't.

This team lacks firepower. In years past, there's been NBA talent in the upper class (or even Soph class) to fall back on to support some of the yo-yo with incoming FR.

This team feels different.

Maybe I'm wrong (never, come on man) but it sure looks like King needs to be a staple in the rotation, at the least logging minutes in the low 20s, and/or at the most being one of the top players on the team and pushing 30 minutes.

Pitino has been resistant to rely on FR - he has played them, as secondary contributors in most instances.

This team though, has no offensive credibility at the 4 or 5. The PG is crafty but has his own limitations.

Mitchell is the top dog but this is the first time I think Rick REALLY needs a FR to be an impact player - consistently.

The team can't really shoot or get easy buckets. King may be the best offensive player we have - right NOW.

Looking forward to seeing how this plays out.

Rick needs get his ego out of it and call a spade a spade VJ is plainly a thoroughbred that needs to be let loose. He ain't no damm pony walking horse.
