then three things for you.
first, get a life.
second, go out an prove to everyone that you could've done better before you open your mouth
third, your are not a card fan if you blame the players. the coaches recruit the player, the coaches teach the player, the coaches decides who plays, the coaches call the players, the coaches get paid millions, and in the end the hope these 19-21 year old kids can act like 35 year old seasoned nfl veterans who make every single same mistake these college kids make. everyone wants to win.

and finally, do you think that any single college, high school, pro, middle school or even pre school athlete doesn't want to be the best and win just as much as you want them to? so be nice, get a life, and hate some one else.

If you are going to try to post an argument...
First, learn to capitalize and punctuate.
Second, go out and prove to everyone that you received an education past the third grade.
Thirdly, try using reason to make your point instead of insults and telling others what they can or can't, or should and shouldn't do.
Finally, people have a right to an opinion of whomever and whatever they want. Opinions are not fact. They cannot be right or wrong. You can only agree or disagree with them. Some players endear themselves to the fanbase, like Teddy, and are easy to root for. Others, like James Quick, have earned their criticisms either by their play, or the ghetto sh*t they talk on social media, or their arrest for drug possession.

then three things for you.

I agree the Louisville season collapse is on the coaches, but please.....get your weak butt out of here.

this team is so trashfilled fans ignore it and get mad at other fans because our offensive line is led by a complete idiot. Get mad at the idiot klenakis, until that moron came false start on the center was never an issue at Louisville.

I can suffer through another year of incompetence from Grantham, but klenakis needs his head on a damn stick.

but, I bet a sunshine pumper like you wants to walk his dog, and wash his cars.

Look, I really dont care of your opinion of my anger is for the subpar performance of a supposed championship level team, but for fans like you to swallow your tongues and ignore the ridiculous execution in every phase of the team is laughable.

I bet you are the type that tells people sit down when we stand up and cheer.

be mad at the coaches for their lack of preparing this team, but for you to voice outrage for fans being tired of an unprepared team is not your place.

These are division one athletes who want to play on sunday....if they cant take criticism then there are other issues at play here. Hell they spent a solid week criticizing the playoff committee before the Houston game...

okay, so it seems i am getting flak for saying people shouldn't be blaming the kids? or that i didn't capitalize? seems i cannot give flak to our fans, that's not okay ("be mad at the coaches for their lack of preparing this team, but for you to voice outrage for fans being tired of an unprepared team is not your place" ) but i can blame the players and coaches? you have made my point for me that the problem with our fans is they they are now blaming quick for our problems. yes, let's all blame one single player for our losses.

again, my point is that these are kids and if you want to bash them you are the problem and i have no problem bashing you as a fan for bashing the players. i bash the coaches who are paid;. obviously your education didn't allow you to see that point from me.

If you wish to be a "kid", do not post your life on social media. Don't be on there bashing committees, Presidential Candidates, or Cheerleaders.

Yeah, kids are dumb. Unfortunately some stay dumb their whole lives. But we give them the right to vote. If they're so innocent and naive, why do we do this?

But "kids" in 2016 ain't the kids we were. Today they (and 95% of everybody scream on social media "HEY LOOK AT ME!!!" Well, we're looking.

Get over it.

obviously you completely missed the point. fans aren't outraged for a team being unprepared they are specifically blaming quick for our losses when it's the coaches who deserve the blame. i have no problem blaming the oline coach or whomever, but not the kids. and i am calling out those you cast blame on the players and not the coaches. so it would be nice if you actually read what i said. the point being, don't blame the players blame the coaches.

btw, we led the nation in fumbles i think and how many did qucik have? against uk, how many turnovers did lj have and yet quick is to blame for the loss?

I get your point, I love our kids.
It is a shame that Bobby 2.0 is so loving and allows this team to be run by assistant idiots that he would have killed as bobby 1.0

I love our kids.
Except for:
Quick
Washington
Radcliffe
Every player at the OL position

All of whom you have called a joke, an embarrassment, not deserving of their jersey and not talented enough to play for Kentucky State, much less D1.

Pretty sure 'love' doesn't mean what you think it means...

Anyone can criticize anyone about anything - hey it's one of the things that we Americans do well. I guess the point is, when you're criticizing amateur athletes - it's just a bad look. Do you criticize (social media or otherwise) HS players? How about youth league players - I mean most of them are really terrible - right?

Again, everyone is free to do whatever they want - they just need to own it and, own who they are - no worries. However, trying to justify criticizing a player because they criticized your presidential candidate, etc. is simply a rationalization - and not very good one at that.

You are absolutely right of course. Kids should not be criticized.

And FB tickets shouldn't be $50-$75 apiece to watch "student athletes" play a game.

Donations to attend said game shouldn't be required.

There are a lot of things that shouldn't be as they are.

But they are.

Again, people are free to do whatever they want - including criticizing amateur athletes - I just think its a bad look.

Criticizing play is part of the game. Personal attacks are over the top IMO...but some people are like that. I'm sure UofL happily cashes their checks just the same though. And they've certainly paid for the right either way.

However the lame attempt by the OP to shame some because they're not PC correct like him on a message board (of all places)...has ran it's course. I like how he seems surprised by the flak. --Like walking into Starbucks and finding out your toboggan and man purse aren't cool anymore.

Look I have tried to stay away from this topic. Human nature is to lay blame on someone whether it be coaches, individual players, refs, your wife... I do agree that the coaches need to be evaluated just like I do at work for job performance and yes I think changes or adjustments are needed. However if we were to truly buy in the blame thing, isn't LJ the one to focus on since we were about to take the lead either by FG or TD? Yeah, he's to blame for trying to do too much by not going down instead of trying to fight for more yards. Just go down and we most likely win.

I hope you realize I am being sarcastic when I say this. I'm not blaming LJ for anything except for putting us in the national spotlight. Go Cards!

I can call out James Quick for directly being responsible for us losing three games.

Muffed a punt deep in his own territory against UVA in the final minutes. UVA recovered the punt and kicked the GW FG. All he had to do was fair catch the ball.

Didnt lower his shoulder for the extra yard at Clemson. Kids are taught as soon as they start playing to lower the shoulder and get the extra yard. He gingerly steps out at the 2 on 4th down instead of taking on the defender.

Dropped a TD in the endzone against UK. Ball hit him square in both hands and he just flat dropped it. Perfect pass.

The kid was an all american coming out of high school, and some were claiming he was the highest rated player ever signed by UofL.

So yeah, I can bad mouth the kid and say with that much talent, he seriously screwed up on more than one occasion. Twice as a senior. He lowers his shoulder at Clemson and catches the ball against UK and we're probably 10-1 instead of 9-3 and ACC champs. (Houston just spanked us).

If you're ok with that, then it simply means that you accept mediocrity and being second tier. People like me don't. I want to be top tier and a legitimate contender.

And don't tell me "they're just kids". "Kids" their same age join the military, go fight wars, get injured and killed. Quick is 22. When I was 22 I was a sergeant in the Air Force and handling nuclear weapons. I wasn't a "kid" with responsibilities like that.

Yeah Quick made some key mistakes in big moments that cost us dearly. Who put him in that position? Why did LJ keep going to him in key situations? Is it because he led the team in receiving yards or was 2nd on the team in total receptions? Do you think he wants to fumble or drop passes?

Big time players make big time plays in big time games. Quick = fail in that area.

The point can't be argued. He didn't want to fumble or drop passes, but he did. It was totally his choice to step out of bounds instead of lowering his shoulder against Clemson.

No offense but again, that's purely rationalization, as if there was some arbitrary amount of money that could be paid that would make it 'ok' to anonymously rip someone on social media. I will agree that the OP's effort was lame - but only because he should have known that the majority of people that he was speaking to are unable to be shamed.

To be clear - I don't care if you rip a player or not. I do think that it makes you an asshole and if you look for justifications (but, he dropped the pass!) to explain your actions - a weak asshole at that.

So essentially anyone who is not a "big time player" deserves to be ripped? That's a pretty high standard. BTW - if you really think that you can place the blame (or credit) for a loss (or victory) on one individual play or player - you don't understand team sports. And if you're going to assign blame to one play as being the one that lost the uk game - blame it on LJ for fumbling on the 10 yd line with < 2 minutes to go. Of course if you do, you then are making the assumption that UofL would still have scored a TD or, Creque would have made the kick.

See how that works?

Ultimate team sport. There are too many plays in every game to single out individuals to cast blame.

Win as a team lose as a team.

As others have said the heavy criticism should go to the employee making salary.

This particular team had a number of capable receivers on it's roster and going into his SR year it was clear Quick had not separated himself from the other WRs on the team.

Yep, it's pretty foolish to blame any one player for any loss. In addition to Lamar's mistakes and the Quick drop, you had, to name a few:

**Safety Chucky Williams not sagging back far enough in coverage to prevent UK's first TD pass even though everyone blames the Corner who believed he had help.

** Devonte Fields not setting the edge and getting swallowed up play after play.

*CB Zykeisis Cannon taking a terrible angle on a tackle that would have stopped a UK Touchdown.

**Senior Brandon Radcliff deciding to run into the "A" gap on 3rd and Goal at the 2 instead of running up into the "B" gap that we had blocked. That cost us a TD, instead we had to settle for 3 points. We lost 41-38.

As was said above. You win as a team and you lose as a team. Nothing wrong with pointing out mistakes but the blame game is taking the low road to make oneself feel better after a tough loss. In UK fanspeak it's called a coping mechanism.

This is on me.

Yes im a hypocrite because i said the same things while defending Cards basketball players from 2006-2011. Remember the battles between me and bigeastcard.
Alot of Cards fans were bashing the players. My defense was to no avail.

In Amateur athletics, every wn is by the unpaid players. Losses by the million dollar coaches.

Praise for wins/blame for losses are ying and yang. In Amateur athletics, coaches get most of the ink.

Theres no complaints with wins. Just critiques. Losses are a different story.
We look to assigh blame. The head coach takes most of the brunt. He doesnt play,
but is the choreographer. Coaching makes the difference.

So no, Quick didnt cost the Cards any wins. You have 60 minutes to overcome player, coaches and ref mistakes. You win as a team, you lose as a team.

However as the highest ranking player signed by UofL, he didn't play like it.
Quick wasnt the only one, just the highest profile one.

Lamar makes his mistakes, but you're missing part of the point of this thread. Quick is gone. He's used up his chances. Lamar isn't gone. He can still improve and there's no questioning that he's already been a big time player that stepped up and made big time plays. That's why he's the Heisman favorite even though he's turnover prone and needs to work on his accuracy.

Like I've said repeatedly, I want a top tier program that can compete for the playoffs. Apparently a lot of you are content with being second tier. Well congrats, that's where we are and I guess you're content.

There are two top tier programs in the ACC: FSU and Clemson. Since joining the ACC we're a combined 1-5 against them. 1-2 vs FSU and 0-3 vs Clemson. You happy with that?

Effective communication skills are the difference between helping your uncle, Jack, off a horse; and helping your uncle jack off a horse.

I see your point, I just don't agree with you. James Quick is an adult. And in the real world, adults are judged by their actions. That's life, deal with it.

Lots of rationalization in this thread. I think I got it. Fans can call other fans weak assholes for calling players weak assholes. Just protecting the innocent/vulnerable football players from internet bullies are we?:D:D:Do_O.

As a parent of a current In state D1 athlete playing a team sport, I never choose to blame a player or players for phyiscal mistakes that lead to a loss. They are human beings and are not perfect. Professional athletes make errors, miss free throws, and drop passes and yet they are paid $$$$. Just because your on a athletic scholarship or cashing a big pro check does not make you physically perfect. Ok now for the other side of the argument.

There are 2 kinds of mistakes. Physical and mental. At the D1 and professional level most mental mistakes are unacceptable. Example being making a layup with 1 second left with your team down 3 points. Not tagging up on a pop fly with less than two outs. Running out of bounds 1 or 2 yards short on 4th down. IMO these types of mental mistakes do deserve some criticism.

I choose not to blame or give criticism to any player for phyiscal or mental mistakes. Most of the players feel bad enough.

Now for the coaches, they are fair game. They are paid to make sure these athletes are prepared and focused. Against KY, our Cards were not focused IMO.

So yes we all have our opinions. I am not posting to change anyone's. Great thread.

As another Card poster says... Peace.

Almost. I said that I'm not about telling people what they should or should not do - I simply said I thought it was a bad look.

I am a firm believer that actions have consequences though. If you drop enough passes you will be labeled a terrible football player and in the same vein, if you anonymously rip amateur athletes on social media for failing to live up to your expectations - and rationalize doing it, you might get labeled a weak asshole.

That said, I'm sure that the weak asshole cares as much about being given that designation as does the kid being called a 'terrible football player".

I think playing hall monitor on a message board is a bad look. At least I understand the pi$$ed off fan's perspective. I might not agree with him but understand his right to be angry. The hall monitor on the other hand seems fake. Some people will say anything they think is popular to be liked. And to me that demonstrates a lack of character. They want to save the whales one day, and college football players the next.

I simply don't get what part of saying that one play or one player doesn't lose or win a game of football, equates to someone "content in being second tier". It's nonsensical.

I can guarantee you that every fan of UofL wants their programs to win championships - to think otherwise is simply ridiculous. Where fans part company is the way that they conduct themselves while expressing their fandom.

Just because you and I differ on whether it's acceptable to call players out for mistakes, doesn't in anyway, shape or form make you a better or more committed fan.

So your given name is Beasley the Card? What is that Dutch?

I haven't said anything on this board that I wouldn't say to someone's face. If you'd like me to repeat any of it to you F2F, message me and I'll give you the location of my basketball seats so you can c'mon over.

you are a touchy little bird, but I would love to buy you a beverage tomorrow and talk ishhh in person. Maybe we can discuss how soft our basketball team is and how King deserves 30 minutes a game. Ive gotten pretty much all the piss out of me concerning our offensive line, so its on to chide the soft serve basketball team.
