In UofL's response to the NCAA the report states a recruit loved Pitino and the school but he was uncomfortable with what was happening at Minardi Hall so he decided not to go there. I wonder who it was. I think most believe UofL didn't get a commitment due to this but losing recruits because of it only makes all this crap even more intolerable. Andre McGee is a villain for life.

I am sure bpghost and zip know everything about it. They are the authority of anything louisville.

My hope is that we get past this stuff and do so without any additional penalty.

We defeated 2 final four teams last season and very easily could have won the national title.
Losing the chance to play in the ncaa was devestating. So as a fan I hope the worst of it is over.

I am disappointed it happened and I think it is over but I can't hate MaGhee any longer. I think about how many dumb things people do when they are in their 20's. I do hate the whore who claimed to be a UL fan and then tried to profit at our expense.

Who knows, but it doesn't matter. What it does is convince me even more that we fell on our swords unnecessarily...

Whatever occurred was no recruiting advantage. THAT was no advantage--in fact, it very likely worked in reverse. McGee was an idiot not in doing it, but thinking it would result in anything positive. It was a joke. Like trying to shoot somebody with a gun pointed at yourself...

The gun analogy is spot on because we shot ourselves.

Hope it is over

From the outside looking in I think the team penaltys are over. Probably looking at a suspension for pitino but I'm sure Everyone expects that

I still believe McGee's motivation wasn't getting recruits but getting in with the culture. He liked the attention and power he was feeling by being the guy with the access to all this fun. He is just another millennial who doesn't think about the repercussions of their actions. They live in the moment and that's all that matters. I have a 27 year old niece who is exactly like this. She just doesn't care what may happen only what is happening now. I really think Andre McGee wanted to be the cool guy and was willing to risk anything including his relationship with Pitino and the University he played and worked for.

I put the blame for what happened with Pitino. It's Pitino's responsibility to evaluate the character of the people on our staff. Pitino spent several years with McGee as a player and a coach. How could he not know what kind of person McGee is?

Having said that, I'm ready to move on. I won't complain with whatever suspension Pitino gets. I will feel bad for the players on this year's team if the suspension comes before the end of the season.

I'm sure Pitino didn't think McGee was capable of this. People act much differently when they're around groups of people than they do with their boss.

I disagree with that. We only see what people want us to see regarding their character. For instance, a person who I used to work with seemed like a good decent person on the surface. Easy to work with and to get along with. He had a wonderful family that I was able to meet thru work related gatherings e.g picnics, organization day..etc..etc... One day, 2 Virginia's State police officers, and 1 FBI Agent came to the work place and walked him out in hand cuffs. To everyone's surprise, he was arrested and later convicted for distributing child pornography.

You never know who is capable of what. Lots of people wear masks.

I had a similar story to tell but yours will suffice. I believe McGee would have never done what he did but for peer pressure. People do some real stupid stuff to feel connected. Pitino said he was totally shocked as Andre always did the right thing when he played for him. I'm more concerned about those players who knew and said nothing.

I too believe that McGee was a juvenile who wanted to be a player with his homies. Relative to them--college kids--he had plenty of money. And he obviously doled it out one dollar at a time to get the skanks in this photo...

WTF_zpsajjoouck.jpg

But McGee was an idiot thinking that was doing anything but making himself look worse. Fortunately, we're not very good at cheating. And the bottom line is it certainly didn't attract any recruits. You don't get penalized--not the full penalty anyway--for TRYING to do something wrong...anymore than you get electrocuted for trying to kill someone. That's where we fell on our swords--we chose electrocution.

And what might you conclude seeing these photos?...

I might question whether I had the right guy living in the dorm with the players. Yes, that WAS Pitino's mistake. If I saw this, how much more did Pitino see? I'd always thought that McGee was trying to be the guy he ended up being. Didn't take a rocket scientist, just someone with his eyes open.

BUT that's not the same as knowing about a violation and overlooking it. IMO that's the difference between giving Pitino a suspension or not.

I think all of this has been choreographed with the NCAA, and the penalties are over...

I basically agree with the above comments. Did CRP make a mistake with McGee? Yes he did but he was thinking that he knew him pretty well but McGee wanted to be a playa with his homies and that's what got us in trouble. It almost sounds like at least one of the "recruits" was more mature than McGee. Does this error in judgement require that Coach Pitino should be fired? No but it will likely result in a minimum suspension for coach Pitino. Something in the area of 10 games or so. And, at the end of the day, that will be the end of the story. Just my own opinion.

LOL gocards! I guess the view about "minimum" depends on what side of that suspension you're on...

My guess is that Pitino would equate "ten games" to something just short of being fired! And I don't think that's gonna happen. My prediction is three games if anything...

You keep saying UL didn't get any recruits because of these actions. In the transcripts didn't a player say he went to UL because he knew Mcgee and UL would have these type of events available? Could be wrong. But thought I heard that. Also dosent UL admit to giving recruits cash at these parties to give the girl's? If so. Then UL opened up another can of worms just by admitting that. I read some of ULs response. Alot of reading. I did notice UL saying a security guard drank and then in so many words . Tried to force 2 of the strippers to preform sexual acts on him. If so. Then UL opened more questions and problems.

The entire thing gets crazier by every release of facts from UL and The NCAA. I think by trying to protect Pitino. UL may be digging a deeper hole. Maybe Pitino and UL take his suspension and just move on. Trying to clear RPs name seems to be just bringing up knew and more outrageous incidents. Maybe just bite the bullet and move on.

Hmmmmm. You have 8 posts on Rivals. Your opinion is trivial!

Like you said . . . "could be wrong". Yep, YOU ARE WRONG. You are over here on our free board making spurious accusations without giving us any specifics about your claims. Be careful bub, very careful.

Seriously.....those ugly ass hookers would scare me away from the program too. People actually pay those skanks for sex?

The information is new. UL admitted to 36 out of the 40 violations. The little I did read sounded like UL was trying to protect RP. And in my opinion it's opening up more to investigate. Maybe just take the few games and move on. Looks like NCAA is good with UL self ban from tourney.

Marcus Lee was the player that loved the program, but skanks scared him off. Pitino more than likely will face a suspension

It's very clear from reading some of these recent post that several u k fans are obsessed with Louisville and Coach Pitino and are still butt hurt over him coaching the Cards.

LoL. Any difference of opinion is always accompanied by this similar response. I highly doubt that uk fans are jealous of Pitino being at Louisville.

Nothing new. this was part of the allegations from the NCAA, UofL agrees with this as part of the major allegation of McGee giving impermissible benefits.
I did notice UL saying a security guard drank and then in so many words . Tried to force 2 of the strippers to preform sexual acts on him. If so. Then UL opened more questions and problems.
What does this have to do with the NCAA or the athletic department unless the security guard tried to force a recruit to strip? this would be a campus housing problem needing to be investigated by campus/city police, not NCAA.
Trying to clear RPs name seems to be just bringing up knew and more outrageous incidents.
This is absolutely not true. There are no "new" incidents in Uofl's response to the allegations. If anything, the reply by uofL contains evidence of pitino monitoring the program above and beyond normal expectations.

TOTALLY guilty of wishful thinking. What's wrong cayuts fan . . . are you skeered that the NCAA committee will pair us up in the tourney. You are a guest here so I'd tread lightly.
