Several years ago, I attended a UK/UofL game in Lexington. (The one where Dumervile stripped Woodson at the 2 to win the game).

While trying to leave the stadium I was verbally threatened by several UK fans. In the parking lot a UK fan with a friend tried to start a fight with me. A VERY LARGE UK fan stepped in told the two of them to back down. He was going to have to go through him to get to me. They walked off and I thanked him. Took some more verbal abuse on the way to my car, but nothing that concerned me.

Yesterday, a UK fan (not a very big guy) was quietly trying to leave the stadium and a drunk UofL fan was trying to start a fight with him. I paid it back.

I stepped between the two and told the UofL fan to back the fvk down. Told him he wasn't going to make the rest of look bad. He was going to have to go through me to get to the UK fan. I had about 5 inches and 50 pounds on this guy, and he wasn't drunk enough to not see the odds on that one. He sized me up, did some more cussing then walked away. I apologized to the UK fan for what he had done and walked with him out to his car in B lot just to make sure no one else gave him trouble or that guy wasn't following.

So to the big man at UK that protected me years ago, I wish to tell you that I paid it back yesterday.

There's a holes on both sides, but also a lot of good people. I'm proud to say that I got to repay a good person yesterday. We can be rivals but keep it from going too far.

Don't know if this was the same situation, but saw this happen exiting the stadium towards the overpass. Drunk UofL fan was totally out of line. Cool UofL fan offered to walk with U.K. fan to the green lot. If that was you, I can vouch for your story and kudos to you for stepping in on this situation.

Blessed are the peacemakers,at least that's what I was taught.Good job op.

I had a similar thing happen about 3 years ago at a baseball game against Ky. Young Cardinal fan took offense to something the UK fan was cheering about(over the top). I told him there was a time and place for everything and it was neither as children were everywhere. He respected my older, wiser approach and walked away.

Good job!

I don't go to Lexington anymore for that reason.

Too old to fight, too dumb to know it. ;)

Yes, me too! I used to enjoy away games but with issues with opposing fans, it just isn't worth it. I go to all the home games and then the Bowl game which is played on a neutral field but watch the rest in comfort at home.

That's where it happened. We were on the ramps going out of the south end of the stadium. I walked him from there all the way out to the lots. Could've been me that you saw.

Nice - glad there are still decent people out there to do the right thing. Never had any problems with UL fans, UGA fans but have run across my share of idiot Gator fans that's for sure.

Props to you Kratz. As a UK fan I will attest that there are fools on both sides. It is the very reason I no longer attend this game in Louisville. Sometimes the rhetoric needs to be toned down a bit.

Yeah that's where it happened. Drunk UofL fan was with his wife and was saying some crap that the U.K. guy shouldn't be looking at him. That made him mad apparently.
