I miss the days Pitino was having fun coaching here

The 2012-13 seasons seem so long ago. It's been nearly three years since he actually looked like he wanted to be on the bench when he is shown on tv during games. During those seasons he was very upbeat and spoke with extreme confidence during press conferences and interviews. Now he just seems to not want to be bothered at all like a factory worker that makes good money but dreads clocking in everyday. This KP crap has only worsened him.

At the end of the day how he is going about displaying his emotions and carrying himself is only going to hurt the team. It's enough that guys that wasn't even here during that BS is getting drug through the Mudd by association, while it seems coach isn't fighting for them by standing up to the media. I love what he has done here but I'm starting to sense the disconnect. Is the job taking too much out of him or is he just in a funk that would some day pass? What needs to happen for coach to love or seem to love coaching again?

Pitino has said repeatedly that this team is the most unique he has ever coached. I choose to believe that.

"Elite program", my a$$...

LOL @ the OP. Freaking hilarious!! Pitino LOVES the kids he has the pleasure of coaching on this team. IMO what he is sick of is the dog and pony shows surrounding college basketball.

It seems like nobody gives a damn about actually helping a kid grow up and providing a kid guidance on how to become a man. Nope, now it's more important to get that ESPN highlight clip on Sports Center's top 10 so you can market yourself as a phenom.

Look, I will openly admit when Pitino was hired, I wasn't all that happy about it because of his ties to UofK PLUS I thought he was basically a dick of a person. Then 9-11-2001 happened and that horrible day changed him. I know it changed the world too but it changed HIM on a very personal level with the loss of his best friend and his brother-in-law. That opened HIS eyes as to how fragile life really is. He has endured a few other tragic events in his life too to include having to bury a child which no parent should ever have to endure. He's grown as a human being and I respect him today for being who he is, flaws and all. If I had a kid who was good enough to play at the high division 1 level and coach Pitino wanted the chance to coach him, I would gladly give my endorsement. In spite of his flaws, he is a good person. I know that. We all should know that by now.

I think he does love this team and this group of kids, but one point I will agree with is that he's pissed. As another poster pointed out in another thread:

He's pissed the scandal ever occurred after his tireless work to follow all NCAA rules.
He's pissed Andre betrayed him.
He's pissed it occurred in Minardi Hall.
He's pissed he's been asked not to address it.
He's pissed at certain media for garbage columns that he must have known or looked the other way.
He's pissed that UK fans are so insecure, they hate with a jealous venom, rather than offer him a healthy respect for the success he brought their program.
He's pissed Cal's teams play him like their SB every time.

So, I sense he loves his team and is the most pissed off he's been since he arrived. Which could be the fuel and correct recipe for March success :)

I'm not sure he is pissed as much as hurt. I think today at the end of his career he is not happy we're he is. not saying he is not happy being at UL, saying this is probably not how he thought he would be closing out his career. I think it hurts him how he has been treated by people who once thought the man walked on water. I'm not sure their is a quick fix for him. I'm sure he thought in his last years it would be about his accomplishments on the court, not about the actions off. it probably is taking a toll.

Pitino had a fling several years ago, the Andre McGee fiasco shouldn't tarnish anything other than AM's reputation. It's not like we were reeling in top recruits because of what went on behind Ricks back. Pitino has won here on his scheme, not on getting a lot of hs all Americans.

Ha ha, this post is so misinformed it is off the charts. For one thing, he doesn't feel like he is "closing out his career". Why don't we begin there? Has he told you this? The man is signed through 2025, lol.

Secondly, do you honestly feel he is "not happy" with his career? For real, goob? He's a couple years off a National Championship. He's won more games over the past 5 years than everyone except you guys in your football conference. Jesus H, please try and be real instead of telegraphing all of us your dearest wishes.

This scandal will be so much less when it all settles. But, please, keep your UK-esque delusions about how much life for him went south after divorcing you guys' pasty arses. Awww, that's always a cute take.

Op,you use the 2013 team as a reference point? It' was the best team CP's had.lol

He also lost another Brother in law, 6 months after Mr Minardi's tragic murder.
He's human.

That's right. I remember that now that you brought it up. Hit by a taxi as I recall.

He is human and just like the rest of us, he makes mistakes at times. What defines us all is how we handle mistakes and what we learn from them. I think it's pretty clear his mistakes have become lessons of interest for others. That's got to count for something positive IMO.

señor if you think RP is coaching at UL until 2025 your delusional. he has also said he is at the end and his coaching career is winding down. the man has been through a lot. from The crazy tranny trying to blackmail him, a player he brought in accused of rape, now this with hookers and money all with in I think 5 years. and I have not even mentioned his personal issues with family members passing away. the man has to have a breaking point like us all. good lord he has been through more hurtful negative things in 5 years then most get in a life time. I'm sure he is hurting. and yes I'm sure he is hurt when he goes back to a place he and his family have fond memories and he gets booed and heckled. honestly I feel sorry for the guy and wish he would step away. just imagine the freaking daily pressure. and sadly I think here in the near future at UL the pressure and negative publicity will get worse.

Another hilarious entry into the Amateur Shrink Hall of Shame. If you had ever accomplished anything in your life, you might recognize those places where you feel most gratified and most familiar are exactly the places which recharge your emotional batteries.

But then - why bother going on? Look who I am addressing - someone who talks about life wearing him out, lol instead of life just making everything better.

lol I really just took the time and read your post lol. talk about someone trying to be a shrink wow. wait now instead of life wearing you out it should make everything better. what ? who said anything about life better not better wow guy. like I said you seem like your in panick mode and lashing out. calm down and take 2 of whatever and relax. the sun will come out tomorrow tomorrow you can bet your bottom dollar tomorrow (I'm singing to relax your panick).

The spelling and atrocious grammar is what is giving it away that this guy is genius-level. WHHS, Senore is very good with the written word. You aren't able to match wits with him. Just give it up. Poor Pitino: FF, Ttitle, Sweet 16, Elite 8 (a FT away from matching your season with a team full of knuckleheads). Yep the dude has lost his touch obviously. It's all crashing down on him.

What a bizarre OP, lol. Thank God your take is uniquely your view - which is very plain based on your other posts. May you forever be faced with slurping down Pitino pee when addressing your morning Wheaties.

You have become my favorite poster here and on TOS. This is another classic Senore post. Still laughing.
