I like Lamar, but

I agree with the OP. I thought the same thing. I know the D played bad, but if the Offense could sustain drives and keep them off the field longer the results will be much better. I don't see how Petrino doesn't settle on Bolin and stick with it. He should have taken the first snap vs Auburn and things might be different this morning.

I also felt the same way! I like Bolin...always have! Clemson is going to kill us in our OWN house unless there is a quick turn around with our defense!

Kyle was quite impressive. Hard to see why he didn't win the starting job coming out of camp. Don't give up on Lamar though, the guy has some major skills. He was the best player on the field in Atlanta and he has in arm that can throw it 90 yards in the air. The guys going to be a stud so don't get down. But I think Kyle won that job today and I am not sure he gives it back this year. I am sure we will come up with some series for Lamar. Got to keep him here.

Ebby Calvin "Nuke" LaLoosh, aka "Meat" had an arm from the gods too, but couldn't control the strike zone.

I'm already tired of the "he can throw it 95 yds. thing. I'd settle for 40 yards and a completion.

I agree BWT. What difference does it make how far he can throw the ball if he can't control where he's throwing it? His lack of accuracy reminds me of my golf game.

Launching the ball downfield with a defender BEHIND the WR is not necessarily a lack of control, but more of a lack of judgement IMO.

Like having a bad slice to the left and the green is to the right. Can't hit the ball too hard or you'll be in the next fairway over. :(

I just don't understand BP's fascination with the read option. He's been unbelievably successful with a pro-style offense with some "spread" elements for his entire career. Part of that has been the ability to tailor make play calls within that system to the talents of his quarterback of the moment - ala Leflors and Brohm.

Ironically running read option may do more to cost us J. Pass than any emergence of L. Jackson. Pass is on record as saying he chose UofL because he believed BP could prepare him for the next level - not going to get to the NFL running that system.
