Losing to Pitt, better leave a bad taste in UofL's mouth. I hope UofL is pissed off and ready to kick some a$$ next week. It is better to go into a bowl game with a win then with a loss. Time to light a fire under this UofL team and finish the season STRONG.

GO CARDS!!!!

Beating Scat proves nothing.

Theyre on par with Wake forest.

Winning out would have got the Cards to a good bowl.

Now they'll be stuck with a bowl against a MAC team or other G5 team.

Pathetic season.

Chuckie strong just put two starting OL in the NFL.

Chuckie strong recruited Bolin, who saved UofL from having a losing season.

Petrinos playcalling blows.
His defense blows.

To much talent to be sitting at 6-5.

This crap is ALL on Petrino.

Not necessarily. To me if Louisville wins against UK they'd be ripe for a Bowl like the Gator Bowl against an SEC team or the Sun Bowl against the Pac 12 and that wouldn't be half bad.

Who will probably kick our ass too, because they will be as fired up as we USED to be when playing P% teams.

We don't get fired up. Too cool for school attitude for a 2nd straight yr. bash all you want but this team has no heart

Plenty of people were preaching dark horse for the playoff pre season. And no this team has no heart and its coaches get a D- this season. Not sure who the guy is on sidelines posing as Petrino. Glad you're thrilled with the 2nd half tho

The Fr as you point out are on offense. They played winning FB.

The D had no heart in the 1st half and put us in a hole that 90% of the time no one is going to dig out of.

It's college FB. Everybody loses people every year whether it's to the NFL or McDonalds. We have an experienced D that did not get it done when they needed to get it done.

I am concerned about the lack of effort from some guys on the defense. There is a lot of diva effort in the secondary. There has been documented lack of effort from some defensive linemen. I even noticed Burgess loafing on a couple plays tonight. Not to mention the poor team tackling. These guys need to toughen up.

The eye in the sky never lies. All these defensive guys who think they are going to NFL better remember that. When you get manhandled like that those scouts want that tape to see who quit.

There is zero reason for this defense to have two quarters against FSU and Pitt where they gave up 56 points. Think about that 56 points in two quarters! There is no sugar coating that is coaching and that is players quitting. Quitting does have to be for a full game it can be for a quarter or two. On top of that Howie had a discussion on the top 10 NFL prospects on this team. Most of the prospects are on defense. Fields, JHC, Rankins, Kelsey, Brown, Wiggins, Young, and Burgess were all discussed. Then you have two 4 star guys in Brown and Hearns that play a bunch. Talent wise this defense is loaded yet you get uneven results.

Hindsight is always 20/20 but the Auburn game ended up being a really good indicator for this defense. Auburn has proven to be very average offensively and our front seven didn't dominate like I thought they would.
I have no idea what the issues are maybe the players aren't that good. They are good enough to overwhelm poor offenses but everyone does that. Bottom line they haven't played well against good offenses especially on the road.

Next year could be a utter disaster on defense if all these guys go pro.

D has tailed off.

Didn't see anything happening in the backfield like we saw earlier in the year.

Yes our fans are fired up, but that isn't the unit that matters - it's about the players.

While many were celebrating the moral victory over Auburn I told everyone they'd lose at least 5 games. I was correct. I told everyone we were an 8-4 team at best. You could see this coming last yr. At best we are averagely (sp) coached if not poorly coached. This is not a Petrino team. He's not nearly the same coachcoach

I am not in this Petrino isn't the same coach. I believe the transition to the ACC is a much bigger task than fans expected. The other issue is the offensive line issues make it really difficult to be consistent on offense. Two stats that jump out is tackles for loss and sacks given up. Last year Louisville was at the bottom of the NCAA rankings in both categories. This year they make finish dead last in sacks five up over 40. There is no way to consistenly move the ball if a team sucks in both those categories.

They don't block well and they miss assignments on a regular basis. Here the thing last year the line was learning a new system with different techniques and skills. That is to be expected with any first year coach. The problem is you lose three of those to the draft. Basically, they ended up starting all over. Add in the poor recruiting job on the offensive line by previous staff now they are forced to play young inexperienced guys on the line. The center returned but let's face it he isn't a high caliber center. They did everything to replace him but couldn't which was a immediate sign of problems. Too be honest I am not real sure they will be that much better next year. With that said they have played some good defenses this year. Until the OLine improves this offense will struggle.

QB play is shaky but that will be a process. Hard to evaluate skilled positions because of line play.

Defense, concerned with discipline issues and lack of physicality. Too many missed assignments and tackles. Good teams score when those two things happen.

The one that does concern me how this team doesn't do the little things which was always a Petrino trademark.

Patience is the word of the day.

Depends what you mean by competitive. Louisville wants to compete for titles. Louisville is 5-3 both years in the ACC. They are 0-4 against Clemson and FSU that is exactly where all those teams you listed would be if they were in the ACC. They are 10-2 against the rest of the league. The chances are those teams would have been tripped up once or twice in the other games just like Louisville, I agree those teams aren't much different than Louisville. They would have struggled as well with the move up. There is a huge gap between FSU/Clemson and the rest of the league. The other factor is there are no easy games every team has good players and coaches.

Season is done too late to be anymore pissed you are what you are now with one game remaining. This squad has been inconsistent all year, i'm just wondering if they as a team have any fire left in them too win Saturday? They have 6 wins and a bowl other than keeping the streak going what are they going to gain?

How about a winning record and a drubbing of a team that came into Papa John's giving their fans the finger last season?

just to let everyone know..............Kentucky leads the football series 14 to 13. This is the chance for UofL to finally take over in football. If UofL wins at lexington and ties the series, then next year in Louisville will be something very special to win.

GO CARDS!!!

6 of the he current OL 2 deep will be back. This could be good news, and it could be bad news.

The rest of the OL's can't make the chart or will be incoming TrFr.

I'll not bet money our OL problems will be any better next year. Yet we keep recruiting WR's, QB's, DB's and "athletes". Without a physical, talented OL, you can have all the athletes in the world like Lamar Jackson at QB and not..........oh never mind.

Granted, it takes time to develop OL's, and when it "clicks" you have something. Hopefully it happens this year, but for the first two years it hasn't. Not even with NFL starting talent on the first one.

Something is amiss on the OL. It's either talent, and as mentioned we have OL's in the NFL...........or coaching.

Or....it is both talent and coaching. The question is.....does CRP know the answer and what it he going to do to fix it? Time will tell.....but I don't feel that CRP is a very patient man.

Do you?

Hope he addresses the issue when the season ends. Would like to hear his thoughts in-depth about the problem and how he intends to fix it.

We know CBP wasn't a patient man the last time he was here. But as we've seen, a lot seems to have changed.

Yes, we'll see.

Being a former baseball player i.e. Played in the field I have never understood why teams pay hitters an incredible amount of money instead of pitchers. Good pitching always shuts down good hitting. Unless it is against the KC Royals:)

The same thing applies to an offense the offensive line is the most piece of an offense. Anyone can look good behind a good line. My first recruiting priority would be to lock in my offense lineman. It a very difficult position to learn and play. On top that it is also one of the most difficult position to evaluate in high school. You can miss on a skilled player you can't miss on a lineman.

Defense, since there are so few big guys that can play Dline I would take the BC/TCU approach. Develop and attacking style of play shooting gaps and playing line games. You can get way with that in college against 90 percent of the teams.

Cycle - to answer your question about baseball, the best pitchers may get 30-40 starts in a season whereas an everyday player will play 140 games. For baseball, it's a long grind and during the regular season it's all about making the playoffs. Once in the playoffs, it is all about pitching match ups. You can be a .330 hitter in the regular season but can go 2-16 in the playoffs.

I think he could help his young offense out by calling a few more screens.I can't remember the last one I've seen.Opposing d's are pinning their ears back almost every passing situation.
