Having been a player, coach, student and fan of football, plus a UofL fan for most of my adult life, is it worse to lose a game that you should have won (in my opinion) because of silly coaching mistakes OR to lose a game in a blowout? On a day when your players make a very good effort, the coach (squarely Bobby Petrino) does boneheaded things to literally cost you an opportunity to win a game that your team, and fanbase, desperately needed. Generally, I believe that you get what you earn and that the team that wins is the better team, but not this game. The officials didn’t lose this game with bad calls. The opposition coach didn’t win the game with great coaching. Our kids didn’t lose the game because of a lack of effort, i.e. last week’s UVA game. They lost because their coach is a stubborn and hard headed person. I believe it’s called common sense coaching. I have a friend that is not a football afficianado simply texted a question that I had no answer for, “why is he passing the football?” I didn’t quit being a fan during the CSK days and I won’t quit on these kids either but I will question my continued support for this head coach. Perhaps this lose is on me . . . . And my fellow fans that have diligently supported Bobby Petrino. I’m seriously beginning to believe that support and confidence was erroneously misplaced. I believe it’s time for a very serious conversation betweeen our AD and our head coach. It sure would be if I were the “boss” in a corporation/company when one of my “lead supervisors” screwed up as badly as this guy did yesterday. Yeah, it’s worse to lose like we did yesterday than the way we did to Alabama. I am not going to blame the past administration because I believe they (with our blessing and support) brought this guy to us in good faith. Yep, I’ll be there next Friday night but they lost a bunch of fans yesterday and I do resent that.
