Maybe I am wrong about that, but this was a quality opponent on the road and I thought this game would tell us who we are.

Unfortunately, the reality is, we are just an average at best football team.

Still love the team just keeping it real.

Well, you've pretty much been Negative Nancy all year. Glad everything works out for you. We are what we are....a young team that battled in pretty much every game. We will make a bowl and we will trounce UK next week. All in all, it's still good to be a Cards fan.

Tale of 2 halves. Hard to spot a good team on the road a 25 point lead.

You're right though, we are what our record says, 6-5. Likely to be lots of questions going into the off season like what are we going to do with our offensive line and Klenakis for that matter. He deserves some heat.

Unfortunately Mike Summers ain't walking thru that door.

There are a few glaring areas where we don't measure up:

- their offense was much more physical than our defense
- Our secondary is so soft in run support it is laughable
- Josh Harvey Clemons was a complete liability. He is just not fast enough to play a cover corner role. They should just bulk him up and see if he can play outside linebacker
- We have a real conundrum at QB. Obviously I have been clamoring for Bolin and certainly was impressed with him the last two games. However his physical limitations showed tonight. On the other side, Lamar is so physically gifted. However we have so many negative yardage plays and penalties with him. For example, he scrambled to the left and instead of just chucking the ball out of bounds, he took a 16 yard sack.
- If you have negative yardage running the ball, you will not win.
- Narduzzi has the perfect players for the system he wants to run. Louisville is a mess right now in that regard.

Total agree with your comment about our secondary being soft in run support. I will never understand why anyone touted JHC as a big time safety. As you said he is too slow in coverage but he's also not physical against the run and plays way too high. And Chucky Williams is no James Sample.

I thought our guys played well on defense in the 2nd half but it was too little too late. Oh and our O-line is back in early season form.

"Well, you've pretty much been Negative Nancy all year"

No I haven't. You either have me confused with another poster, or read on a grade school level.

No, I'm not confused at all. Every other post from you is the same skeptical drivel. I'd put my reading skills against yours any day of the week. Let's leave it at that.

I think you are mistaken. I haven't seen what anyone would call a negativity in his posting at all. He's very "realistic" at times, but no, I wouldn't say negative. And I tend to really notice true negativity.

Ok..case closed. As usual, the guys who post here all the time take up for their own. Point taken.

Check UK message board for my comments there if you are questioning my allegiance.

I can't think of a single negative post I've read from IPartied all year. IPartied is very knowledgeable and will go after UK trolls.

Seems like a lot of chippyness and attacks on here lately. I get attacking the trolls but the other stuff is not necessary to make a point.

The problem is as fans we gravitate to extremes... The last two weeks have been fools gold if you were confident that we had turned the corner offensively. We simply were playing poor defenses, among the worst we've played this year.

But I also don't think we're as bad as we looked today. Our defense has had issues at certain times: the 1st half today, the 2nd half against FSU, most of the game against UVA. 34 points should have been enough to win that game or take it to the wire.

Most of us are pretty confident in our coaches. That only leaves the guys in uniform, and too many are too young to be playing the minutes they're playing. That leaves patience as our best course of action...

Louisville isn't a program that can afford to lose 11 players to the NFL that included multiple underclassman without taking a step back. There is also a lot of talk about losing several from this defense which is crazy considering their performance. Louisville doesn't have the star power to replace those guys so when they have to play young guys it isn't a good thing.

Defensively it has been very disappointing to watch. There is enough experience on that side of the ball to avoid defensive meltdowns. The front seven has been average all year except when they played against bad offenses. They aren't a real physical team. That concerns me because physical teams usually mirror their coach. Other teams have picked on Clemons and Reeves in the slot, neither can cover a slot receiver. They also lose people in coverage far too often. The two plays to the full back simple either you are in man coverage or zone both times wide open. When you play good offenses they don't miss those things. It is different if the offensive players just make a play then running free. That is a scheme or discipline issue.

Offensively, it comes down to one thing offensive line....they aren't any good. Way to young to play in this league.

It is really apparent that Louisville was not prepared talent wise and depth wise to really compete for titles in the ACC. That shouldn't be a surprise for anyone. I think they will get there but they have a long way to go and I hope the staff continues recruiting wisely to build depth. The reality is Louisville is never going to have consistent years of top 20 classes. They have to build it over time and with a lot of red shirting.

We stink. All of you thinking this team
is beating anyone easily including UK are nuts. We'll be lucky to win that tickle fight between 2 bad teams who are poorly coached including us and the Great Bobby Petrino. He's been awful this yr and barely any better last yr

.

The disappointment goes beyond one unit on the team. The defense allowed 5 TDs in the 1st half, and they weren't facing the best offense we've seen all year. The offense threw a pick 6 and had multiple 3 and outs, and they weren't facing the top defense we've faced all year. Our punt returner tried to return a punt after making a fair catch. He is a FR, so the youth you mention is in play, but can we critique the staff for not explaining the rules to him? Or hammering the rules home?

Is it fair to be disappointed we're throwing the ball with under a minute left in the first half inside our own 20 down a substantial amount, when the opposition is lighting us up on both sides of the ball? The result was the pick 6.

Is it fair to be disappointed in the play calling that is resulting in 1st down failures and 2nd and long run plays that don't go anywhere?

I applaud our team for digging in and not folding, I really do. I'm sure some will roll their eyes at that also. We only allowed 3 pts in the 2nd half. There are a # of very talented FR on the field and other young players making contributions.

I think it is fair to be disappointed with the performance yesterday, and to do so without attacking players on the team and/or fellow fans on a message board.

This. The fighting (and name calling) amongst our own fans and insults aimed at our players and coaches has gotten pretty bad. It needs to stop. It's not hard to discuss, debate, or criticize without demeaning someone personally.

To be fair to Alexander he didn't call a fair catch on that punt it was kicked short and he was waving the players away from it and when it rolled to him he picked it up and ran. Also it's hard to call offensive plays when your line is so bad. As for the defense I really hate the 3-4 we play. It just doesn't work against smash mouth teams

Losing games is so disappointing to a dedicated fans. And it doesn't matter in what manner, close or blowout it always rankles.

It seems to me we as fans have some challenges as well. One - and I am top dog in this category - so many of us over rated ours team. We also missed our own all world receiver, along with quite a few others, leaving us starting a wide receiver corps who had never played one college game. To say they had issues 'getting open' is an understatement. You can't throw to players who are not open. It's why Lamar was such a tonic against Auburn - his scrambling allowed the receivers second chances on individual routes.

It was the same with the OLine. 2 true freshmen, right off the top. The talent was simply not there.

The absurd tenor of arguments around who QBs is the next failure of fans. We spent ample time learning stuff, too, don't get me wrong. But it became personal for so many posters, some sort of pre-emptive attack on their football knowledge and wisdom, so vital on these message boards, lol.

Absolutely very few of us have an inkling of what next year brings. For many, that might as well be the year 2525.

Microwaves are us.

As for next year...we'll be marginally better, starting a true freshman at QB again will earn us some early season lumps; but everything else will improve.

As for this team, I'm proud of their resilience...many teams would implode with our start...this last game is really a microcosm of the season as a whole.

And we will stomp UK on their own turf...so there's that.

Some precious bowl practice and an extra game sets a good tone for next year...I still have the faith.

I think you could put Syracuse and NC State in the stomped category. The only game UL has not had a chance to win in the 4th quarter this year was Florida State. I also don't believe Pass will start next year
I'm fact I wouldn't be shocked if he was redshirted

UK will be the worst FBS team we play this year, we fell for their shenanigans last year; but not this time...I may be wrong, wouldn't be the first time...I just think we kill them this year.

RE: Pass...I think our QB play is far from optimal, much of that is due to our O-line and the need to be one dimensional...but the best player gets the start and I think Pass will provide the consistent (key word) performance needed at that position. Too many times our staple of QB's had lapses in performance and missed out on opportunities, many times they were excellent. A lot can change in the off season, so this prediction may be premature.

I absolutely love this post.
