That plan on making the trip in just a little over a month to watch your Cardinals take on the Herd. Thought some of you may find this helpful, it has some great suggestions on places to stay, eat and see while you're in town. Anyhow, hope to see plenty of Louisville fans in Huntington for the game and good luck in your opener against Charlotte.

Tudor's Biscuit World is legit! The "Thundering Herd" biscuit is the diabeetus but is delicious.

The Hall of Fame has pretty good food as well. Standard sports bar food, lots of Herd memorabilia, has a local feel to it.

Pullman Square is sort of a smaller version of Newport on the Levee in Newport/Cincinnati. It's not going to blow you away but it's a nice place to walk around & eat. It's on 3rd Avenue, down the street from the Stadium a mile or two, right in downtown. Plus there's a big hotel (can't remember what it's called, it's a Marriot or something) immediately beside.

I can't believe you left The Pub off of there! The Pubwich is unique and delicious. Stewart's Hotdogs is also classic.

Music lovers should hit up "Now Hear This!", a mom & pop music store. Tons of CDs, DVDs, vinyl, shirts. Music geeks can spend hours there. It's on 4th Avenue.

I ended up in the area b/c of CSX closing down its Louisville shop and my father's job being moved to Huntington as a result; if you want to see where everyone ended up, the CSX shop is on 5th Avenue. Lots of Louisville natives ended up in the area b/c of CSX.

I spent a lot of money during my college years at "Now Hear This" lol.. The hotel immediately beside Pullman Square is the Holiday Inn that I included on the guide and in my opinion that's the best hotel in town. Also funny that you compare Pullman Square to Newport on the Levee. It is my understanding that much of it's inspiration when it went into development was taken from Newport on the Levee.

I used to work for a guy that was from there. His thing was Stewart's Hot Dogs. Every time we went there we had to stop by that place on 5th Avenue and get some chili dogs and root beer. LOL

Now Hear This moved this past year - it's still on fourth but is closer to 16th Street. It's actually much larger and nicer now. The owner is a helluva nice guy and will talk music with you for hours if you are up for it.

I believe I heard that the same developers behind PS were also behind Newport on the Levee. I don't like to do "chains" when I travel, but I toss that aside when I don't have a chain that I like near me. That said, Max & Erma's has great hamburgers, a trip to PS is worth it just go to have a Garbage (yes, that's right) burger. I would not be surprised if I hit M&E when I come in to root on the Cards.

My wife and I are heading out. We are going to stay a little east of Huntington at the Casino in Nitro, WV. Gonna catch some greyhound racing!

If you are downtown try Backyard Pizza next to Hall of Fame great selection of beer and great brick Ben pizza. Cams Ham on 1st Street and 8th avenue. It's been in business for 67 years. Best hotdogs are Frost Top on Hal Greer Blvd not far from campus near Cabell Huntington Hospital.
